He had 2 sacks. Maybe that's an indictment of the rest of his line but 2 sacks isn't goingnto cut it. But who knows, if the rest of his new line is good to great maybe he gets 8?

As an IDL Butler's job isn't to get sacks. He is a good player but not irreplaceable

Perfect description of Butler. Pretty good player that was getting better. However, nobody is game planning around Butler and I doubt he’s any more than a fringe starter/rotational guy at Texas Tech. Still wish we had him, but these things are going to happen and I think it’s very likely we get a better DT to replace him.
The FCS guy from Sacramento State and the other guy from New Mexico are probably both better. And one is a 315+ run plugger and the other is a 280 pass rushing DT.

If you want to see teams with a lot of money being thrown around check out UNC last year. They were awesome! Better yet, check out FSU. They reload in the portal every year. Spend big $$$. One year they went 13-1 doing it, the last two they went 2-10 and 5-7. Just because you spend big doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed to get great ROI.
