whining to the site founder "because he says things that make me mad" is embarrassing. things that wander into legally risky territory (posting the wrong pictures and links, accusations of others behaving illegally, etc.), is another matter. I happen to know for a fact that the feds can wind up monitoring sites like this for a time (usually in connection with someone having had their online credentials stolen), so people really do need to pay attention.
it's a fair point with hijacking threads. I participate in another forum (on an unrelated topic) and it, too, is quite open and dedicated to free speech. you can post mostly whatever you want, but where the moderating comes in is to prevent people from hijacking threads. you're always free to start a new thread on that topic. seems reasonable.
this forum is not an ethnic neighborhood. been saying that for years. it's someone's hobby board. not your house to be unwelcoming of others. it's his house. if he wants a duck sub-forum, that's that. if you really can't stand it, which I find laughable, then just don't fucking go over there. it's a straight-forward process of frustration management. I think some posters like to brandish their Husky bona-fides by expressing how much they hate Oregon any chance they get. those people will be unhappy if the duck forum disappears, despite what they might say to the contrary. go for the serious football chatter or have fun with it like @HuskyJW . or don't go at all.
I for one am ok with bob, haie and whomever going at it (again, w/in the obvious lines). just keep it in siloed threads. the adults here should be able to handle that.

A few observations:
