Stapleton played Kroger Field (UK football stadium) in 21 or 22. It was originally scheduled for 20 but COVID. Willie and Sheryl Crow were the openers. Sitting in my backyard, I could hear those 2 but not enough to know who it was. Kicking myself for not trying to get tickets.
Side note, once Stapleton started and because I knew it was him I could make out some of his songs.
he opened for Stapleton. That’s all I cared about. Sheryl Crow ended up being actually a pretty good bonus. She was really good. Willie was just you know Willie.. I was more of a Waylon guy anyways.
Yeah, he just came through my town and I didn't go. I need to buy an LP or two of his to explore his sound more. He does have some pretty strong Waylon vibes.

Damn. Willie’s still going at 91.
One of the best songs ever.
.
Saw him live in July.
This one hurts.
Writer of so many great songs.
My punk/metal addled daughter went to the Gorge to see Dylan, and came away with “I never knew that Willie was so cool”…
So many great songs. And the Highwaymen with Willie, Waylon and Cash.

My cut-off for seeing Willie live would have been the mid 90's. Too fucking old after that.
As I was driving through all the lettuce fields just north of Salinas last month, I started singing Me and Bobby McGee for the kids.
I feel the same way but the combination of Willie, Sheryl Crow and Stapleton was pretty fucking spectacular.
Sheryl Crow has always been up there for me on my list of hot celebrities.

I question anyone who's not a Waylon guy first and foremost @Joey . It reveals character.
Sturgill Simpson is touring. Waylon of the next gen. Check him out.
