Keep Me From Being Chicken Little

I'm not alone in being in a bad place after Saturday's game and it's not just losing to the fucking Cuog. I think teams are going to be very fragile in this new rent a player world and we could easily be flirting with a 4-8 2021 like season. The Bruener injury isn't even just so much to me losing him but feeling like you're losing one of the guys who cares and feels like the kind of injury that happens in those cursed shitty seasons.
Feels like they just lost in Seattle to a team that would win 4-6 games in the old Pac-12 or current Big 10 and that's exactly what UW is and even winning six games is a challenge now that they lost this one.
Convince the sky isn't falling? Or is, I guess?

this is bad
Let’s take away the egregious coaching errors
we are a team full of carpetbaggers that seem to give very little effort. The lines are totally decimated and this will be years to recover.
We got fucked by NIL and transfer rule last year.
We had to do something. I totally get it. But this team sucks.@DerekJohnson let’s create an Idaho board. They’re going to win the natty.

Sorry, pal. I can't help.
I wrote off this season back in January and February. Too much trauma to the program and we were looking at 5 to 7 win season and anything more than this was excessive Dooging.
I'll wait until next year to fire Jedd.
-
Sky isn't falling. Can't win every apple cup for all eternity. It's a new coach. Breathe a little.
If this team is 4-8 that is a disgrace. Plenty of time to clean things up. Hopefully Bruener gets another year of eligibility and Parham plays well. The defense is good. Offense needs to man the fuck up, and Fisch needs to figure it out fast
-
They have 50ish new players and they still haven’t put it together yet. If fish is any good they will get better at the little things that cost UW the game on Saturday. False starts, offsides, face masks, stupid defensive holding penalties can be coached out of these guys, if again, the coaches are any good. The turn around at Arizona tells me they are a lot better at coaching and building a team than I saw on Saturday. If they don’t smoke NW this weekend then you may be right but I’ll give the players and staff a week to use this abortion of a game as motivation to right the ship. They outgained WSU and still had a first and goal with a chance to win the game after all the mistakes. Is 4-8 in play? Sure but I think 7-5 or 6-6 is more likely.
-
Imagine if DeBoer was breaking in 50ish new players in 2022.
-
I was hoping that it would be a limp dick 7-9 win season but it looks like a straight rebuild because the o line needs to combine some of the actual huff recruits with Jedd's own 2024 o line recruits and develop for another year.
It is what it is. This isn't a Jimmy Lake squad and I won't drag on with the aspects of his team that were just straight up broken on offense. This offense was just inherently un-clutch and it's on coaching that they went 0fer in all the critical plays and had to kick 4 field goals and turn it over on downs at the 2.
I do think that the B1G middle/lower teams still really, really lack where our offense doesn't: skill players and quarterback. We can still pass our way to a decent season if Fisch wakes up on his play calling.
And the defense is in decent shape. Still looking forward to conference play. I didn't really even have a bad time at the game and thought we were always going to pull it out and it was the 2023 Apple Cup 2.0. Just choked at the end.

Honestly bruener might not even be our best linebacker whenever he comes back. House looks awesome
-
Michigan is starting their running QB now, meaning we are fucked.
-
Mateer's got some coug legend stuff in him, he's doing a lot more than I've ever seen out of Michigan's QB.
Minshew's going to come back to Pullman soon and find out that his broken down school bus is no longer full of co-eds, they're all in the RV that the Coug NIL is supplying Mateer.
-
Mateer absolutely choked twice down the stretch and our offensive genius Fisch couldn't capitalize
-
Have you considered moving to Springfield OH?
Guaranteed you won’t identify as a chicken.
-
Losing 34-17 in the Purple Bowl to Northwestern is still in play

One time my cousin and I touched weiners!
-
Would have been easier to just loose the the Coug by two scores instead of Couging it ourselves.
I keep coming back to 4th and 1 with a little over a min left in the 2023 Apple Cup. What if DeBoer loses that one with BPE and our like 10 other NFL draft picks? Was he a $12 or $13 million dollar guy before that game? DeBoer was a snail slithering along the edge of a straight razor and surviving.
Fisch may not be the guy, but I think for guy that did what her did at AZ, you gotta let it play out over a few years.
-
at least you can take solace in that if you execute the plays, they convert.
which is what I tell myself when I shoot my shot with Sydney Sweeney
-
Execute some better plays in your brain fisch
-
@WoolleyDoog im not the guy to help you with this one.
As mentioned elsewhere, I’m out of fucks to give this year. (I say until my next game thread meltdown).
-
I'm starting to hate him.

A lot of poor mouthing going on around here. Is anyone slobbering like Lou Holtz?
Dwags! win and lose the following; cook it:
Northwestern: W
Rutgers: W
Michigan: W (just watch)
Iowa: W
Indiana: W
SC: L (too much respect)
Penn State: L (too much Sandusky)
UCLA: W
Oregon: W (too little respect)
Looks like 9-3 by my math. Maybe Whoregon gets straightened out and breaks the streak. 8-4 at worst.
Cook it.
-
My Hoosiers are tuff
-
Creep you are doogin' way too hard.
Northwestern: W
@ Rutgers: L
Michigan: L and we? give up 300 yards rushing in the process
@Iowa: L
Indiana: W
SC: L
@Penn State: L
UCLA: W
@Oregon: L (blowout L)
5 and 7 season incoming, with the Sark 3-game losing streak tradition brought back to Montlake.
-
Yes, creep is dooging hard but this staff may just figure it out yet. You are trying too hard. If Fisch loses to Michigan, and at Iowa and Rutgers he needs to be tarmaced.
-
We’ll said.
-
We? are not losing to fucking Rutgers and Racebannon's Tuff Indiana Hosiers. This isn't basketball and Gene Hackman isn't walking through that door any tim soon.
The only loss of which I'm fairly confident is Penn State. They're good enough, they're tuff at home and we? will be a bit intimidated for that one more because of rep and lore than anything else. Once we? get comfortable playing them then I think that going there and playing them won't be a big deal. For now, and the condition we're? in, I have a hard tim seeing UW winning that one. If we were playing Buck, I'd chalk that one up too.
But the rest? GMAFB. I'm with our friendly Canuck on this one: we? give much too much deference to these Big 10 teams. Michigan can lick my balls and they are super beatable with what we? have. I'm sticking my neck out on this one, but I think we? beat them. Their coach is a retard.Losing Bruener hurt because BHL TUFF and because, like another poster said, the guy actually gives a shit and plays for more than just mercenary purpose. Kid is a Dwag through and through.
Also, with O line shit, run blocking is fixable. Pass blocking takes more time and finesse to iron out. But if you have the beef, it's not hard to beat it into them to run block and they certainly have a horse in the stable to throw at it. I say run that fucker that visor brought with him until he begs for a breather and use that to set up the pass. Tell Boston that if he ever does what he did again that's he's done for the season. Fuck that weak ass af effort.
-
Fisch is going to beat NW, Rutgers, and Michigan to get to 5-1
At Iowa (who also choked against their state rival) will tell us whether this team can beat anyone else on the schedule besides ucla
To race's point, Indiana might be tuff
-
Michael Penix ain't walking outta that tunnel any tim soon Race.
-
Huskies will beat Northwestern. With so much roster turnover and new coaches, this team will improve faster than most other teams. The whole staring 5 on the OL is new and there were ZERO returning starters on O.
Frankly, I'm glad we played WSU and could have won it at the end rather than getting our shit pushed in by an OOC school like Oklahoma or LSU.
The good part is that the staff won't have to go after so many transfers next year and can focus NIL dollars on quality rather than quantity.
-
Is this a troll, Coug? Northwestern and UCLA should be wins. Other than that I'm concerned. The OL was a mess in a half-filled Lumen which was only even like half opposing fans. Also struggled to snap the ball in the rain so later season weather sounds great.
