247sports unfiltered; Why the transfer portal is ruining college athletes' careers.
Watched a half minute or so. Based on that it appeared that their answer is that it's the parents.
Someone more bored than me please watch and report back.

One thing I find funny about college football and pro sports to a lesser extent is it never gets mentioned it's a spectator sport. If people don't want to watch it, it doesn't exist as anything more than a club sport yet the sport is basically being operated in the mode of whatever the players want. For every good portal story there's several shitty ones and guys who had to transfer because someone else transferred in. It also greatly benefits shitty programs that don't develop players and process guys.
I want UW to stay in the game and use the portal to fill holes or just to get guys with upside that you think can be good but haven't been yet. 3-5 guys per year means you're doing a great job with roster building rather than roster replacement, and I think that's how UW has to approach things.
10+ incoming transfers per year for any sustained amount of time just tells me the staff sucks at recruiting, development retention, or abundance.
Fuck the parents
It probably isn't possible but they need to make players sign some kind of a non-compete where if you transfer out then you have to go down a level such as FCS for a season and burn a year.
And of course any NIL money awarded while at the school has to be paid back.
I'm all for is you want to transfer down, especially since schools process guys now. I'd open it up beyond FCS though. No penalty for transferring down to non power 2 formerly power five. For example you want to go from Washington or Oregon to Boise State or now Beav/Coug.
Yeah exactly just no free/endless transfers across the Power 4.
Even ignoring some other obvious examples, why the fuck does Ohio State just get to go summon Will Howard when their "offensive genius" coach fucked up QB recruiting with all their advantages.
as bad as it is now wait until there are 105 scholarship spots on each roster
that was tough to watch. It was like a Dan Reilly article turned into a video.
quick recap:
Everyone around the player wants a bag. (How is this any different from how it worked in the past)
Maybe the NILs should have structure like the NFL draft $$ based on something.
Agents need some sort of monitoring/certification.
The players should be involved (head scratcher)
Yeah, I think one of the most corrupt aspects of this whole unregulated shitshow is that the parents are the ones getting paid and making the calls on where the kids are going
