they arent, you know this cause i know this.
Pac-12 survival: Washington State, Oregon State engaged in strategic discussions with multiple conferences
Those discussions are not specific to WSU and OSU potentially joining one of the power leagues, although that option “definitely” has not been dismissed.
'we havent talked about it but that doesnt mean we have talked about it.'
they're not going ACC, which is talked about briefly in the article, i dont think if fsu/clempuson leave the ACC then those members say 'well we lost our two football schools, lets add two no names from the corpse of the pac 12 to fill the gap.' nobody is paying for that, member schools wont accept a cut in funds. the big 12 isnt going to add cuog/boov or they would have done that by now. again, no network is going to say 'yes we will pay the big 12 more if they add cuog/boov.' no member school is going to say 'yes we're fine further spreading out the money and taking less to bring on cuog/boov.' i can echo that for the mwc, if they wanted them they would have taken them as full members but they dont move the needle.
wilner also had something in the article on a 'reverse merger' and bringing the mwc teams to the 'pac 12.' he doesnt get it, but everyone else knows the p12 is dead and now a joke with two teams on their website. theres not going to be the same level of tv contracts/respect if the 'pac 12 gets back together again.'
i wont speak for boov cause i dont know but wsu is massively fucked; ton of debt, having to pay the mwc to play, shit level tv deal so no money coming in, and then having to pay for athletic teams to participate this year.
i do think their best course of action is to drop to FCS, play the montanas and eastern washingtons, and get butts in seats (unlv versus cuog on a snowy november night in pullman will be special) but thats not going to help the debt they have.
id wish them 'good luck' but theyre going to need more than that.

lmaoooooooooooooooo, they really think theyre gonna have a balanced budget for 24 and 25?!?!?!?! theyre somehow going to slash ~4mm from that 'other expense?' OK! and they think sponsors are going to keep on with supporting this corpse of a team? im still not 100% sure on the 'pac 12 disbursements,' i had thought a lot of that was going to be a payment to xfinity/comcast for the $50mm overpayment, further, i dont think the schools who actually did shit on the football field this year are going to forego receiving any postseason revenue.
It's either pray that Utah can convince the Big 12 to take them to get a sliver of West Coast inventory or try and convince SDSU, Boise, etc to pay the MW exit fee and rebuild the Pac on their terms.
The "if they wanted those schools they would have added them by now" logic was used against UW and Oregon and it's not very sound. ESPN or someone just needs to hand out the money, Yormark would want to move West because he's so delusional that he thinks he's competing with the B1G in that respect. But the issue is being backed by ESPN right now sucks ass.
The only thing I’d disagree with is saying the Big12 would’ve already taken them. From the Big 12 perspective there’s no rush. The longer it goes, the more desperate they become and the less money they’ll take.
Yeah I think they'll convince ESPN to give them a partial share in 2026.
Cuog and Beav really fit in well culturally with a ton of the B12 schools. But if we think travel logistics are bad for the B1G then good luck with that conference after adding Cuog and Beav.
Yomark probably does want to keep going with expansion so he has all the second/third tier inventory under his roof. No relevant competition gives them power.
mildly disagree on your 'if they wanted…' take. the big 10 wanted uw/oregon from the get go but they knew that would kill the conference, they didnt want that on their hands (they stop at child rape). thats why yormark did us? a massive favor by taking colorado, it gave uw an out to call uo to quit being pussies and pack their bags.
i think yormark adds gonzaga before he adds cuog, that has to hurt.
Yeah, from reading into a bit more it doesn't look like the Big 12 gives a shit at all about them, and my guess is it's because WSU and OSU want them to take all their sports when Yormark is only mildly interested in football.
