But you understand the intent of the original ruling, how it had nothing to do with crosses, how they revised their ruling to allow religious symbols, how people legally marched with crosses, and how this tweet mis-characterizes all of that and creates a narrative in a couple words. And then it gets amplified. One thing leads to another and people across the world think CDA banned crosses and the citizens are therefore revolting by carrying crosses. JFC. It's also a good thing the symbology the ruling was intended for wasn't allowed. All of these things are fair. The mis-characterization about what happened is not. You posted an editorial from a religious non-profit written before the religious symbol exemption, without the proper context. Flags were never banned, for one, you are well aware of what the overall intent was, and common sense won out. Religious symbols were allowed, and American flags were allowed, just as they always were.
If you wanted to argue that the original ruling was ignorant and short sighted with regard to religious symbols, then I might even agree with you.
It's characterizing yesterday's march as having a ban on crosses and flags that is retarded. That just wasn't the case. The tweet, the reason I'm even saying anything, is cancerous culture war nonsense. This is exactly how social media creates and perpetuates victimhood narratives to rile up the base. Well yes, I'm an atheist and find the conflation and co-opting of "the flag and the cross" to be gross at best, especially on a day to celebrate independence from a nation who was/is also Christian. It doesn't make sense. Can't we just rock and celebrate 🇺🇲 together as Americans without religion and partisanship? The cross has nothing to do with our independence. So yeah, I threw a subtle jab, but it doesn't mean I think Sled or anyone else shouldn't have the right to carry a cross. Everything worked out here as it should even though I think "the flag and the cross" shit to be dumb, ignorant, and sinister in a lot of ways. That's a whole other can of worms though.
If the Tug can dish, it can't get offended when it takes every now and again.
