A Jewish woman was beaten to unconsciousness by pro-Hamas occupiers at UCLA while campus security refused to intervene. A group of Jewish students responded by returning to exact revenge and then, only then, did Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D) finally find a voice to condemn “detestable violence on campus”. How convenient. How transparent. ...
Where has Bass been for the past week or so? Where has law enforcement been to clear the illegal encampments before any violence happened?
And let’s be clear, too, that Governor Hairgel Newsom said nothing until yesterday, too, when so-called vigilantes decided to go where law enforcement refused to go.
The retaliation is their doing. By refusing to enforce the law and stop the initial violence, Newson and Bass created the incentives for more violence. We can cluck our tongues at retaliation, but we do so by forgetting that the rule of law was designed to make lex talionis unnecessary. When the rule of law disappears, then we will quickly revert back to its predecessor out of necessity.

Portland Police is sort of trying to retake Portland State University with kind words and it is working about like expected. The have been at PSU since this morning and they let 50+ occupiers of the library escape, but they arrested 12. Police just have retreated rather than take on the mob. Can't use tear gas to disperse the crowd since that is mean. State and PSU officials complaining that their are outside agitators involved and setting up the "few" students involved as just peaceful protestors. Campus has been graffitied to death and closed down. I hear Hillsdale is pretty quiet though for some reason.
