Once upon a time, but not today, there was a legitimate argument to keep minors out of the public eye for committing a crime. Those crimes were generally minor in possession, minor shoplifting - not looting a Walgreens with a shopping cart - and a joy ride in a stolen auto. These were largely one offs and the kids turned out fine. The West Linn Tidings had a criminal charges section to the paper with all the city crimes for the week listed. They weren't kids with a stolen weapon doing a car jacking it was 90% MIPs. If you can't do the time, don't do the crime. If you are 17 and have committed a felony, get your booking picture posted along with the charge and a listing of all prior convictions. If this hurts the thug's feelings, too bad.
