It has to be that UW is locked into a game of chicken over the assistant buyouts... Grubb/Shepard has a buyout, who pays it?
Bama because he is being poached or UW because UW is bring in a new staff and he will be defacto let go?
Either way its a good thing Dannen isn't just bending over... yet...
Another element of all of this is probably UW probably still wants Zona coaches to be able to talk to Zona players and Bama wants to talk to UW players.
Yeah the whole "UW isn't taking payment" argument makes zero sense. What exactly does not taking payment achieve? How would that prevent Bama from announcing coaches?

Possibly delay to get an answer from Cummings so they could sign Shep if needed?

"Get that money"
Liking our new AD more by the minute
The press conference quote about seeking a "maniacal" recruiter was a direct shot at DeBoer sleepwalking on that part of his job.
I asked a media guy in New Orleans about Dannen and said he thought he had done a good job in New Orleans.
Then he added the money shot:
"Some of the coaches at Tulane didn't like him because they thought he didn't give a shit about anything but football"
His time at Northerm Iowa was also a success.
