Dude looks like a 40 year old man
-
Not highly ranked but had offers from Michigan, Nebraska, TAMU, UCLA, Iowa, KSU, and Wisconsin. Has the size we need for a LB in the Big Ten
-
Good get, I guess.
If we had about 10 available schollies around the time of the spring game, we have about 4-5 available now.
For every one of those that is not a decent OL we (?) should lose up to one additional game in 2024. If all are decent OL we can go 10-3. I am not okay with Jedd thinking that 5 wins (with this schedule) is acceptable. Eight healthy linemen will not be sufficient to start the 2024 B1G season.
Someone, please talk me off the the side of the Aurora bridge. I understand that the tubs of clay that we do have are being shaped into OL but there may not be enough time to see the benefits in 2024.
Anyone else have (real) updated schollie numbers? June 17 (or what ever) is not coming fast enough.

Scholarship link is on page 1 of this thread.
If you need reassurance, only 1 of our starting OL played in the spring game. Gaard and Hatchett were injured this spring and Titialii and Vimahi are portaling in.
-
Maybe it's not the appropriate thread, but our OL had to be top 20 in the country at worst to run DeBoer's offense. It just has to, everything is predicated on making the defense fear that the next play is a 40 yard bomb while mitigating our risk to get sacked.
The "NFL passing offense" "Kyle Shanahan ripoff" whatever you want to call it offense is not trying to hold up pass rushers for that long. So our baseline is much lower although the depth issue is a mess that he has to clean up before the 2025 season at the latest.
-
People forget about center and gaard. Hard to project brilliance from either at this point, coming off injury and whatnot, but it's not incontheevabull they are both starters. It makes the numbers look better when you remember them though. Never forget center and gaard.
-
The whole “we only have 9 linemen” narrative from the spring game is dumb.
We have two fifth year seniors coming in from the portal and four freshmen recruits of which only a couple were enrolled already.
So the numbers aren’t that bad. 13 scholarship OL, most of whom are freshmen/sophomores, would be nice to have one or two more.
The bigger problem is they all suck and/or are untested and/or injured.

He looks like Seth Rogen
-
He replaces the hwhite Vanderbilt LB.
-
jump.
-
I’d like this pick up. Doesn’t hurt that he goes to school with hot moms kid.
three other highly recruited WR’s aside from this guy scheduled to visit this summer. Get this kid and you only need one of those other three to have what looks like on paper as a damn good WR class. @CallMeBigErn how’s that for optimism?
-
Maybe. I am not one of them. Please to be providing the link where Fisch says they are 100% guaranteed to be fully healthy at the start of fall camp.
TIA

@FremontTroll
How many injuries did we have to our O/L last year? It should increase some due to playing in a tougher league and rushing younguns into duty. So, 4 injuries means no depth if you have nine linemen
Please to be providing a link to a decent NCAA (Div I or whatever it is called this week) that says less than 10 OL is ideal.
TIA

Hatchett won't be ready at the start of fall camp. Gaard should be
-
Thanks.. I wasn't aware the chart was being updated in real time. We have one more schollie available than I thought due to someone leaving that i didn't account for,
For a wag, I was pretty close. I'll definitely refer to this in the future.
Thanks, again.

Our Bagmen are reaching the Midwest. OSU, Michigan, with more to cum. If we were losing guys to these guys, y'all would be drinking bleach now...cheer up
We? Will have another OL dude shortly, stay tuned
-
"…Moore is now on his second marriage after a nasty divorce and custody battle. Said he was looking to move west for a fresh start. Also has six years experience as a welder…"
-
Huh? My point was that they don’t have nine linemen that is fake news.
They have 13. Which is one or two short of ideal but not a huge problem in terms of numbers alone.
-
with a combined 13 career starts.
-
McGary started as a RS freshman, Harris and Adams started as true freshman, Brailsford started as a RS freshman, L. Hatchett played meaningful snaps as a true freshman. It isn't ideal but there is a fair bit of recent history that says young lineman can hold up. Carrol is a good coach, I'll choose to say that the kids they go with will be ready to rumble after their five week rehearsal to open the season. Glass half full take, doog it up.
-
No shit. Like I said they all suck, are injured, and/or are young.
It’s just not true anymore that there is a pure numbers problem though.
-
Yeah but it we had 40 linemen, 31 injuries still leaves us with 9. Link me to something that says this is ideal.
-
even the doogest of purple doog drinks can trump what logic says - I’m a logic guy, zero heart/emotion (aside from hate and anger). But yeah, you make some good points and I’d like you to be right. Unfortunately our o-line is the weakest link until it isn’t.
-
Ivan Lewis?
-
speed, speed, speed.
-
Nate Fellner?
-
Disagree.
EVERY report said there were 8 linemen available for the spring game. If you want to, you can count the true freshmen and the injured two to get to your creative math but I'll stick to what was actually available for the scrimmage.
They are young kids, but there is no guarantee that Gaard and Hatchett will recover 100%. And as of now, they are not available.
Also, 17-18 is optimal. I've even seen 20 as quoted as ideal based upon the hazardous nature of playing OL.
TLDR. We need 18. Have 13. 5 Available need to be OL

I’m triggered. Looks too much like Brownsocks.
