The most Oregon I've actually watched focused other than the UW game and it make the outcome a few weeks ago make sense. Oregon's pass defense is terrible. USC doesn't have much at WR and Williams was a little off. It will be interesting to see in the almost assured rematch if Lanning goes the route of blitzing up the middle a bunch or dropping a bunch in coverage or sticks with their base defense.
Defensively UW's bend but don't break D when executed is actually kind of the best way to defend Oregon's methodical offense.
We're again pounded with the Oregon talent narrative but I see a ton of JAGy guys who aren't big time NFL prospects and who weren't big recruits carrying all the water.
A rematch should be another tight one and Penix/Deboer have proven to be better in the big moments than Nix/Lanning.
What's stupid about this comment is that there are only so many possessions in a game for a team to get scores. If Cal has a crazy good game and scores on 7 or 8 of 9 possessions, how is that UW's problem when we still scored more?
This is all meaningless anyways because a rematch will decide everything, but yes, there is a very big difference in a game that was tied in the 4th quarter vs one where a team was up 22 and took their foot off the gas and got Backdoor covered. You’re looking for slights where there are none.

Furthermore udub didn’t survive. They survived two shit teams. They pulled away here.

Yes but they won by 9, not 22. Come on.
Cool. I just explained why the framing is different. One game was never in doubt after the first drive of the 2h. The other game was well into the 4th q.
Michigan won by 9 yesterday. Must have been a real close game!

Oregon didn’t drub anyone. When you take your foot off the gas, you didn’t drub. HTH.

I wish they had finished strong, too. Hate that prevent shit.
Helpful note though—sports writers are also incredibly lazy/efficient. In a 20+ point game in the 4th q, they have their story written and edited by the 6:00 mark. They’ll throw in an extra graf somewhere if the game tightens up, but the story is already written so that they can get back to the buffet as fast as possible

No doubt. Dawgs leading the country in “glad we got that one out of the way” with FSU close behind. Football seasons are weird and the narratives absolutely don’t matter, so we agree there.
Husky frustration has to be mainly rooted in 17 games straight, winners win, EXCEPT: (insert list of reasons people have used to downplay it).
At some point we just want to get jerked off a little bit.

What’s funny is that ESPN still has us ahead of Oregon in their power rankings after this past Saturday

If you see anymore drop em’
Wilner is the same as the Pac-12 refs: unemployed and irrelevant in 6 weeks. Fuck em both.
Has anyone been more wrong on anything in 2023 than Wilner has been on everything?
