Washington and USC had a terrific showdown for a Rose Bowl berth at Husky Stadium.
#4 USC edged #15 Washington 24-17.
Late in the game, Washington's "Mr Miracle" Mark Lee returned a punt down the sideline for what fans thought was his 4th punt return TD of the season. But officials marked him out at the USC 21-yard line.
UW had first and goal at the USC 1 yard line, but four plays later the drive ended at the 12-yard line (if I remember right) and USC hung on to win. The Trojans went on to win the Rose Bowl. UW beat #6 Texas in the Sun Bowl.
