If Sark fires Holt and brings in Wilcocks with his offense UW will roll!!!!
It's not the coordinator
Why firing Inge or whoever it is, won’t matter either.
Eh, Wilcox and Co actually came in and turned the D around. It just so happened that Sark was still Sark so any total team improvement was miniscule. New talent won't hurt, and I don't know whose head needs to roll, but one of those coaches needs to get ass doored come January.

The offense regressed significantly from 2011 to 2012 (33 ppg in 2011 to 24 ppg in 2012), so the record was the same. In 2013, UW was at ~38 ppg on offense, and the team had 9 wins for the first time since 2000.
UW's 2020 class wasn't that good on defense with Savvy Smalls and Jacobe Covington as the highest rated guys. Nobody from Lake's 2021 class is starting and IMHO, the 2022 and 2023 have promise but we'll see.
Out of the portal, it's very possible that UW can get an above average DT, Edge, 1 or 2 LBs, and possibly a secondary guy to retool. Outside of a portal QB, UW is mostly set on UW in 2024 so focusing the portal mostly on D makes sense.
But what do I know, I predicted UW to go 9-3 in the regular season and a 3-game losing streak to close it out doesn't look likely.

2011 (Holt's last year): PPG allowed (all opponents): 35.92 | PPG allowed (ranked opponents): 51.4 (this is exactly how I remember Nick Holt's defenses feeling)
2012 (Wilcox 1st year): PPG allowed (all opponents): 24.15 | PPG allowed (ranked opponents): 29.17
2013 (Wilcox 2nd year): PPG allowed (all opponents): 22.85 | PPG allowed (ranked opponents): 30.75
