    Oh no!

    Over 7%!!!

Only worth like $1000/month to the buyer on a $400k mortgage. No biggie.
Mortgage rates can go all the way to 7?!?!

    unprecedented

    if you're under 30
Combined with prices that are still at 2.5% levels because no one is willing to sell and trade into a 7.5% mortgage, it's a huge problem.
you'll never run short of economic problems

some of us never pretended that any economic condition is permanent or that who's in the White House has a lot to do with it
I thought you WANTED to take credit for this? Why the back peddle?

    Happy infrastructure week!

Are you stupid or something? (Rhetorical)

not a dime's worth of difference between the parties on this

I love that since you failed at saying this was a good thing now here's the pivot. "Inflation isn't anyone's fault!"

C'mon H, isn't the current inflation rate a GOOD THING??? Please do go on with that line.
I gave Biden credit for falling inflation?

But the inflation rate is so good right now!

Ftr I don't really disagree with what the fed is doing re: rates. They are doing the responsible thing that the "modern monetary theory" party forced them into doing.

Agreed, it's their only fix. But don't forget that they all pretended that inflation was transitory for like 8 months, so they started doing it too late. Which leaves some residual permanent price increase that wouldn't be there had they admitted to it all sooner.

All good points and yeah, they have their own share of guilt.

Remember that they had factions that wanted to continue pretending it was transitory though as well.

Hopefully MMT and the neo-keynesians can be put back into the woodshed for at least another decade after this.

I wonder what they will do in the coming recession. No way is this going to be a soft landing with so many price distortions in the market.

We have an admitted to 17.5% cumulative inflation effect since Jan 2021. Median home prices are now about $400k, vs $300k in Jan 2021. So to buy that same $300k house today, your monthly payment would need to more than double with the higher rates.

Talk about winning and a great economy...

Mortgage rates can go all the way to 7?!?!

    unprecedented

    if you're under 30
You’re such a dishonest little shit. Look at the median cost of a home.

I realize you don’t give a fuck because at 65 or whatever you’re across the finish line on your home loan, but this is a huge problem for people in their 20s and 30s wanting to own their own house.

But keep up with the snark and glib replies that always fall flat. Even the dummies on this board see right through your bullshit.
10.25% was an issue when I bought my first home too.

You seem to ignore the fact that sellers are also impacted by rising rates.

But rates at 3 - 4% was always going to be the aberration.
