I have all the Dead records Inc this 6 LP Ducktard box that I got in the spring.

I think John Mayer shreds on the lead stuff but a lot of the Dead and Company stuff is too slow for my taste and Bob’s vocals are shot.
-
I was about to answer with @trublue but you mean the Grateful Dead not the actual dead.

I heard a rumor Dave Matthews might take over for John?YellowSnow said:I think John Mayer shreds on the lead stuff but a lot of the Dead and Company stuff is too slow for my taste and Bob’s vocals are shot.

That guy can’t noodle like Jerry.

Bill Kreutzman agrees, at least with the tempo…YellowSnow said:I think John Mayer shreds on the lead stuff but a lot of the Dead and Company stuff is too slow for my taste and Bob’s vocals are shot.

Unfortunately after working 25+ years in law enforcement some shit is creepy and not funny in any contextGrundleStiltzkin said: -
Gorge Shows were fun. 95 degrees, Hookers, Blow and a little too much acid

The Dead are my all time favorite American band. @alumni94 sold the couch just a few years too early for me to see them live. If they'd played the Gorge in '98 I would have been there for sure.
I don't care for the pre 1970 studio albums and live stuff quite as much. But once they moved on from psychedelia to cuntry rock in 1970 I'm all in.

Sorry for dying. I should have stopped the chili corn dogs, and maybe the drugs. Anthem of the Sun is great album, so is Live Dead. Check them out again.YellowSnow said:The Dead are my all time favorite American band. @alumni94 sold the couch just a few years too early for me to see them live. I own Live Dead, Two From the Vault (1968) and Live at Fillmore East 1969. All good stuff with Pigpen doing epic Turn on Your Lovelight.alumni94 said:

But I think those sets pale in comparison to what they doing live starting in 1971- 72. -
I heard things sped up when Billy left the group.Fishpo31 said:

I have heard that Bob was slowing down some stuff, and Billy didn’t like it…

No, not me.

Their first album is dynomite, Viola Lee Blues, Good Morning Little School Girl - and I think their best is Working Man's Dead - thus sending me to cuntry/blues rather easily
Edit: seen live at Volunteer Park - they used to play all over Seattle area back in the day when they were making a name for themselves. Can't remember* how many times I saw them live.
*for some really good reasons -
The first album is fine and lays the ground work but pale in comparison to the best of what 1967 had to offer.LebamDawg said:Their first album is dynomite, Viola Lee Blues, Good Morning Little School Girl - and I think their best is Working Man's Dead - thus sending me to cuntry/blues rather easily

But Workingman's Dead is where they finally found their sound. -
Tough to upvote and down vote at the same time. Seattle '71 is a hot hot show with Pig, new songs, coke, whiskey and a lot of lsd. But I am a sucker for the '60s raw psychedelia studio albumsYellowSnow said:
