Stepping stones vs Final Destination
I was thinking about the PNW schools and their history of corches. Whether they were a stepping stone or a career killer.
WSU, clearly a stepping stone. Suitcase Denny got his real start to get 2 Natties. Price almost to Alabama, but clearly it wasn’t his Destiny.
OS with Riley headed to the NFL.
Oregon with Brooksy and Chip to the NFL and Moobs to Miami.
But then there is Washington damnit! Really not a stepping stone. But a place where coaching careers die. You killed Rick, Ty and Pete. All of which had success other places.
So I guess what I’m trying to say is that based on that, I’m pretty sure DeBeers isn’t going anywhere. As there is clearly a coach curse on Montlake.
And when you think about it, you could add Don James to that list, as He wasn’t ready to retire when He did.
When you of coach Killers, you normally think of players. Not schools.

Ty clearly was dead.
Rick was dying at Colorado.
Sark used UW as stepping stone.
Theory seems suspect.
Going from 2008 to Sark to Pete to DeBoer (and now to the B1G)
Coaching careers don't go to die at Washington. B level coaches get a good/great season because they were at Washington.
Rick won a 🌹 at Washington and then showed how shit he was at UCLA which is easier to recruit to.
Pete got a playoff despite having glaring flaws and being burned out, because he was at Washington.
Jimmy Lake won a North Division because he was at Washington.
Pac-8 —> Pac-10 —> Pac-12 —> ? —> Big Sky
And Sark???
There’s no coherent explanation of how and why He has ended up at the places that He has.
UW has won 3 PAC 12 titles in the last 30 years.
Guess who won 2 of them.
