I'm here for the reporting and accounting tricks going on in real time. Retail sales at POS (which is the number that gets flashed as -28% or whatever) would not be impacted by rebates since it doesn't come at point of sale and wouldn't be provided or reported on. So the real number is even worse than is being reported in reality. Rebates do impact the revenue side, but likely are provisioned for only to the extent that historical rebates are redeemed (or some version of that method) even though this rebate program will likely have a far higher redemption rate than normal course of business.
