Welcome to the Hardcore Husky Forums. Folks who are well-known in Cyberland and not that dumb.
I'll take SWords for 500, Alex.
Since everyone's posting pictures of their kids these days, thought I'd share something fun that I recently finished.
When I was first setting up my VMC, I asked my kids what they wanted me to make for them. My daughter didn't really have any ideas, but my son instantly said "a sword!"
It's taken a year to get the machine in good running order and figure out how to run it, but I decided to give it a go. Machining a sword ended up being a lot more challenging than I had anticipated. There's a reason they're usually forged. I made it work, though, and the results are great:
Started as a 30 pound block of CRS that he couldn't even lift off the ground. Whole sword now weighs under 5 pounds. Still heavy, but not sure I could have made it any thinner unless I wanted to take up forging. It's about three feet long in total. The first letter of his name is A, hence the letter on the guard.
My hope now is that my son and this sword are never featured in the news...
