When I think of Keith Moon this guy comes to mind.
In all seriousness, though, he is a kick ass drummer, but, while I don't need Peart levels of technical proficiency (because I mostly hate Rush), I do prefer something closer to that level that keeps everything on time.

I love Keith Moon because he played the drums a lead instrument as opposed to keeping time.
That said, if I had to chose the drummer who has the best combo of keeping time, technical proficiency and some flare, then I'm going with Ginger Baker.
With that said, I agree with Steve Gorman (drummer of the Black Crowes) when he said, “If you have a guy that wants to play like Keith Moon in your band, kick him out ASAP! Keith only worked for The Who.” Or something like that.

Still the most exciting drummer in the history of rock.
