My favorite is when they pull you over and then ask you if you knew how fast you were going. I was coming back with a friend of mine from fishing on the Metolius and was going 62 on the Santiam Highway coming into Salem (light traffic, sunny day, posted 55 mph) when a state trooper going east pulled a U turn and turned on his lights. I pulled over and handed my license and registration to the cop who asked me how fast I thought I was going. I politely told him that I was driving at a reasonable speed under the circumstances. He obviously wasn't happy with the answer and then told me he had me on radar at 72 mph. I told him I didn't believe him and that my passenger was a deputy DA with Multnomah Co. and that we wanted him to show us the radar. He then told me that he had turned off the radar so he couldn't show me. I told him it was apparent that he was lying and that he just had wanted me to confess to traveling faster than 55 so he could write me a ticket and that I was bringing my friend to traffic court and he could explain himself to the judge and that my friend would confirm that we weren't going close to 72. Suddenly, the cop decided he would just issue me a verbal warning and left.
So, I agree with the point of the video. It also bothers me that given my few encounters with the cops how often they are just making stuff up to give normal people a ticket for the revenue. My brother had a red mustang and was pulled over a lot and it was apparent that the cops just wanted to look at a classic mustang.
I never made up shit. No need to do so. 3000 sections in the vehicle code if wanted to stop you I could find one 99.9% of the tim. That a few idiots get through the system is depressing though. FYI I don't know how other states/cities/counties work but my city got something on the order of $23.00 from the court for a moving violation. The fine would be $350.00 but court costs and penalties took up all the rest. That will hardly balance the books. Parking tickets is where they made millions!

It's more than a few. They get told to go write speeding tickets and they do. In West Linn there are several 25 mph residential areas that are essentially four line highways and especially if you are going down one of the steep West Linn hills. Then they have go write a ticket for cell phone use or driving without a seat belt weeks.

They make it up all the time in CDA, those bastards have pulled me over 18 times in 2 god dammed years.... the last one because my light was out on my license plate.... really, you are going to waste my time on that fucker.... the worst was when a sheriff said i didn't stop when i had stopped for 5 seconds.... i lit into that fucker and made him give me a ticket... they hadn't given me one before as they are only looking for drunks. I go to the preliminary court action ask the prosecuting attorney how to pull dash cam footage... she had a nice deal if i did the infraction, traffic school, uh no....
3 days later it was dismissed... they reviewed the video and knew they were going to lose... had it gone to court and i won, after my discovery which would have been subpoenaing all my records, i would have sued them for harrament. But i didnt get the chance to get the film.....
I'm back the blue elsewhere, but not here fuck these dudes.
I got pulled over in Fife for literally nothing. The dyke bitch cop said I wasn't wearing a seat belt. She made it up and was fishing for revenue. I got it overturned, but it took spending a day in some god forsaken low level Pierced County traffic court or something. I lived somewhere in Suckattle north of the Ship Canal at the tim, so it was like 80 miles
You find them everywhere. While living in Corvallis I got stopped for failure to come to a complete stop at a 4 way by campus.
I asked motorcycle cop why he stopped me? Told me why. I’m a smart ass so I asked for his definition of a complete stop. “Cessation of all 4 wheels.”
I said yup that’s what I did because I saw you sitting in the parking lot kitty-corner from me. And a pedestrian was nearing the crosswalk. So I stopped.

In this case he was ticketed. Maybe looking for something bigger, but when everyone I know has had bad stops and was ticketed because the cop lied this is more than boredom. West Linn has had trouble at times getting their police levy through because too many honest non-criminal voters were getting phucked with.
West Linn has a history of phucked up policing and huge financial scandals which seems strange because you wouldn't think they were East St. Louis. Apparently, not a lot blacks to hassle in town, so they went out of jurisdiction and arrested and innocent black guy as a favor for a fishing buddy of the police chief. That turned out well.
The wrongful arrest of Michael Fesser The Oregonian/OregonLive broke a story in February 2020 of West Linn's attempt to quietly settle a wrongful arrest and discrimination claim filed against the city and its police department by Michael Fesser, a Black man from Portland. The small-town cops had targeted Fesser in a trumped-up theft investigation in 2017 as a favor for a fishing buddy of their chief at the time. The details — blatant cronyism, racist and misogynist texts and illegal police tactics — triggered widespread outrage. The new police chief lost his job, the lead detective in the case also was fired, another officer was placed on leave and the former chief at the center of the controversy may lose his police certification. Local, state and federal investigators are now underway.

Sure, but it shouldn't be allowed.
Valid stop. You'd be amazed what we find on "routine traffic stops". It's just police work.
And if you have to drive alot for work or kids or whatever, get a good dashcam that records your speed.
If they do write you up, the ticket will have an exact time on it, and if their speed doesn’t jibe with yours, there is a very good chance that it could be dismissed

If I wanted to harass you you would know it. Working motors traffic was my job. I wrote more tickets. If I wrote you for speeding in say a 35 you had to break 50. That was my rule. Stopped a black guy one night and got the you just stopped me because I'm black bullshit. I asked to lean out his window and look at the oncoming traffic and tell me what color a driver was. He said "I can't see the the driver because of the headlights" I said "thanks, press hard 3 copies".
I used to sit on my motor at UNDER a no left turn sign. People would pull up to turn I'd hit my airhorn and point at the sign. They'd turn anyway. I don't have to nitpick or make shit up. I took that job so I could get better days off when we were having kids. Also you took the bike home, so free transportation. Hated writing tickets. I let the people write their own ticket. If you were an ass you got one. If you weren't you often didn't.
Also caught a lot of crooks. They often don't drive well. Also had to take all of the accident reports what joyous fun...

That's called bored and they are fishing. I'd hazard you were nothing they were looking for and you went on your way with a warning. Not driving a beat up old El Camino are ya?
Sure, but it shouldn't be allowed.
Valid stop. You'd be amazed what we find on "routine traffic stops". It's just police work.
No it's harrament. And revenue of the citizens back.
No thank you. I had to institute a rule w my firefighter buddies. No accident stories.
The routine ones were just a pain in the butt. The bad ones were bad. But we saw an awful lot of bad. You get kind of numb about it after a while. Except kids. That never goes away or lessens.

If the CDA cops acted like that I'd have no issue. They make shit up.

Warning. Completely made up.
Dipshit.

The wrongful arrest of Michael Fesser
The Oregonian/OregonLive broke a story in February 2020 of West Linn's attempt to quietly settle a wrongful arrest and discrimination claim filed against the city and its police department by Michael Fesser, a Black man from Portland.
Don’t build their case for them for gossakes
And if you have to drive alot for work or kids or whatever, get a good dashcam that records your speed.
If they do write you up, the ticket will have an exact time on it, and if their speed doesn’t jibe with yours, there is a very good chance that it could be dismissed
