I've mentioned this before, but the first kid to meet Joe at the fence wearing the green jacket was my brother.

He actually broke his finger when Joe gripped over it and shook. I was a few feet behind and it was truly one of those special moments that keeps you a fan for life.

Man, life is so strange sometimes. Someone universally well liked for decades dies young and then horrible people die in jail who are twice as old.

The Sol Duc is no river to take lightly. I know a number of experienced boat operators that have had bad days on it - and going in the drink with waders on is never a good time.
