People forget the compounding effects of inflation. The +6.5% is just off of the rolling 12 months, which just rolled off a 7.5% number. Look at it over a 2 year period and the index has grown ~15%. Slow growth on a big number brings bigger actual change than a bigger growth % on a small number. Getting inflation back to 2-3% isn't winning the war by any stretch, prices are permanent.

Bread I've been buying since I was in high school is just gone. They don't make it anymore. Pasta has been another item that's been hit or miss.
