Oregon intends to start stripping dollars out of commuters with tolls starting on I-205. Legislators are now getting a lot of negative feedback and will see what happens. Years ago, metro voters turned down a MAX light rail construction bond. But, the powers that be built it anyway.

Demographics are going to fuck urban areas like in the 70's. Part of the push to bring in working age illegals.

Car's smell like urine, crime is common place on the system and you have homeless sleeping on the cars. It's a mystery why people don't want to ride them.

I go into the city for work nearly everyday of the week. Hate working from home, much more productive in the office. Downtown isn't coming back anytime soon. All my favorite watering holes are gone. The few places that were able to survive are now doing okay due to much less competition. The small little sandwich and coffee shops that weren't chains are gone. The dystopian feel of this town in the financial district and up around the courthouses and where Twitter is located is real. Place has gone completely to shit.

Parts of the city are doing fine. All the traditional tourist areas like North Beach are busy but all of the mid-Market areas and the SoMa places that opened up after Twitter and Linkedin and others moved in are gone. I was here after the Dot.com bust and obviously I'm here now. This is much, much worse than the 2000 bust.

Fire 80% of the people at ODOT not actually working on roadways. Start there. ODOT has long wanted to nail WA drivers crossing the bridges each way to work.

Tolls should be for new highway and roads only but we know that ODOT does not believe in either of those.
