Economy / Local Job Market
With so much going on with the economy, job cuts, and the area in transition (for example, are fentanyl deaths up year over year but Sawant and other loonies are down), I'm curious as to what others think about everything. I have my opinions but am more curious as to what others think. For instance:
1. Are we in a local recession or headed for one? Or are we in a national one but Western WA is holding up ok?
2. Is your company hiring or laying people off?
3. Do you know someone who has been laid off or who got a new job?
4. Do you think the market's recent rally is durable?
5. Do you work fully in the office, hybrid, or remote?
6. Are you cutting back on discretionary spending?
7. Is anything keeping you up at night regarding the economy or declining conditions at work?
8. Are you in a start-up or young company and wishing you had a safer corporate job or vice versa?
9. Is water wet?
10. Will it be interesting either way?

I've become numb to the endless bullshit from this administration.

Depends on if it's frozen or not.

Yes.
Is anyone an attorney here who can help me get back my $10,000 deposit I put on my credit card?
150k Diversity and Inclusion Officers, 80k+ front line support people, 120+ project managers, etc etc, that never ever made sense without a bunch of cheap cash flowing in.
Hopefully more of my vendors can actually hire engineers now. None of them have done squat the past year.
I gave up on hiring IT help desk type people. Just went with an outside service to manage help desk shit
Still up in the air whether or not it's good but I had several people jump after like 2 months and I said fuck it.
Know plenty of tech bros. A couple of them actually work.
I do because I love it. I still do the cio bullshit but lately I spend more time with the sales team than I do my own
Building shit is pointless if we ain't sellin
