You guys are missing why this would be so awesome. Watching Russ try to cook in an offense that runs the ball 60% of the time and the rest of the time throws to the TE, which Russ is wholly incapable of, would be amazing.

Reading the tea leaves, I'm guessing Denver has no intention whatsoever of hiring him and at the same time Shaw might already know this but wants to send the signal that he's interested in coaching in the NFL again.

Denver is in a situation where they MUST get the right guy and hiring someone who three weeks ago said he has burned out doesn't strike me as the prudent move.

(And I was a David Shaw defender for many years.)

Shaw is a good coach. But let’s be real. NFL coaches are the best in the world at their jobs. In a very hard field. And the reason why is it is applied martial theory and changes every year. Or even week.

There is nothing new or adaptable about Shaw’s schemes. He’s 25 years behind the NFL. Hiring him would be like throwing Father Coughlan into Fox News prime time.

The NFL coaching style is changing and Shaw just doesn't fit the mold. He has the Bill B. sidelines demeanor which is headed out the door. Harbaugh is more in step with coaching today's NFL players.
