Highlights (with commentary below):

They're going to be pretty good. Can't blame them for hyping their brand. We'd do the same.

True.

They went 11-2 and return basically everyone. Of course they are going to get off season hype.

O.K. We’ll take it!

No, no we wouldn't.

It took an act of congress to get a Leaf Heisman campaign, and then it was a fcking xerox of a Leaf.

Our best PR is Ol Crimson and it has no connection to the athletic department

False, I remember that stupid leaf flag.

The UW didn't lose a lot, they are returning 7 players on offense and 7 on defense, and they have backups and transfer players to fill holes and in some case upgrade. If they stay healthy, the 2023 team will be better than the 2022 on paper. and they only have 5 road games. However they do have to play a tougher schedule. USC and Utah replace UCLA and Colorado on the conference schedule, and they have to go on the road to Michigan St, Oregon St, and USC. Time will tell, but based upon an 11-2 record in 2022, with the major pieces coming back they should be a preseason top 10 team. I like the hype they are getting, it sets up all the Husky fans for a lot of disappointment if they lose more than 2 games, which is likely

Hawt Dawg tawk! That’s why I subscribe.

Returning 7 from, on both offense and defense means they lost 4 each on offense and defense.

And most to almost all that they did lose were VETERAN EXPERIENCED NFL CALIBER PLAYERS.

The lost a NFL WR, 2,3,4 from a NFL CALIBER O LINE, AND 4 NFL CALIBER PLAYERS ON DEFENSE.

Yes they got 1 RB, 1 WR, 1 TE, 1 OL from the Transfer Portal.

That's 4 GOOD replacements. That would still leave a 4 NFL player HOLE.

Maybe 1,2,3 back ups fill that hole, and maybe 1 of those is a slight technical upgrade, but the other 1,2 is not likely to be the same VETERAN, EXPERIENCED, BATTLE TESTED, NFL CALIBER, that was LOST AT THAT POSITION.

And that leaves 1,2,3 either holes, weaknesses, OR not as good players as those LOST.

That means that the defense will be a very slight down grade, and that the O Line will be a very slight downgrade, and the WR Corp, will just barely by skin of teeth be a very slight downgrade.

The only thing UPGRADED, is UW's RB Corp, and retaining Penix.

UW didn't lose anybody good from the RB Corp, and added another good, ok RB, so UW upgraded their RB Corp.

You add all the above to tougher schedule, because of playing the toughest teams in PAC 12 like USC, UCLA, Utah, Oregon, etc, even tho only 5 road games, and that is NOT a recipe for going 11-1, 12-1, 13-0, CFP, National Champion.

UW's CAP, is 10 wins before conference championship game, bowl game. And 11 wins after conference championship, bowl game.

That's UW's CAP on wins. UW is NOT going to CFP, National Champions.

And if UW did miraculously make it to CFP, Ohio St, Georgia, etc, would BLOW OUT UW in the first game of the CFP, IF UW miraculously made the CFP.

Total Negadawg here.

They also should be pretty good. They have over half of the O and D returning. They lost some key guys, and there is no guarantee that they can reload at the same level. Logic would suggest that they can't/won't. They also benefitted heavily this year from both minimal injuries and an admirable (seriously!) level of team chemistry. Some of that is on the coach, so some of that will repeat. Some of it was simply plain luck, unlikely to fully repeat. Importantly, they have as soft a schedule as possible this fall; they will be favored in the first half of their games, up until they go to LA to play SC, and they might be favored there, as well. Unless they choke at MSU, they will be undefeated at that point. They have Oregon, Utah and WSU at home in the back half of the schedule. In summary, if they win all the games in which they are favored; if they beat SC in LA; and if they win out at home; they will be undefeated. So that is why the Fusky Fans are chugging the Kool Aid.

What will really happen if the odds return to normal this season? They will have injuries that cost multiple games to at least one or two key starters during the season. They will be over-confident...which means they will drop at least one game due to poor play, and likely to a mid-level team. The O line chemistry, in particular, will not be as good as it was this season. And my guess...with which others won't necessarily agree...is that Penix won't get quite as much support from his receivers this season. They made him look really good last year. He made a number of poor throws that ended up as receptions strictly because of his receivers. I personally do not think it possible that he will get that level of help this year.

I'm expecting them to drop 2 games during the regular season for the reasons noted; 3 if the injury bug is serious, or if it bites Penix. Still a darned good season. But undefeated, in the words of Mik? "Delusional".

More hawt Dawg tawk!

What's wild about the Huskies is how badly they suffer from what psychologists call the spotlight effect, wherein they believe the entire nation is watching them week in and week out, and analyzing their season and their recruitment and thinking about their future, and that we're all familiar with their 1991 team and Don James etc. Imagine knowing that teams like Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, Clemson, LSU, A&M or Florida State exist, and still thinking that UW occupies B10 or SEC fans' thoughts for a second. I have no problem saying they are one of the top teams in the P12 - and also that NOBODY OUTSIDE SEATTLE GAF.

11+ wins is an historic season... for UW. But for perennial competitors? 11+ is the floor. TEN (!!!) other teams in P5 finished with 11 or more wins this season. Most of them finish with that many wins every year. The idea that Georgia or Ohio State or Alabama are losing any sleep over the possibilities with 2023 UW is absolutely laughable. Even inside the conference, they'll be dealing with double-digit winners, like Utah, Oregon & now USC.

When I was in the military, I learned that your average dope anywhere east of Utah doesn't even know that Washington is a state as well as a national capital. Georgia went 15-0 and won back to back titles. Ohio State took them to the wire. Michigan looked great much of the season. Alabama is always dangerous. You think one person is Tuscaloosa knows or cares that UW shared half a title in 1991-92? You think they even know there is such a school?

UW fandom is absolute bizarro world. The delusion and the sense that the world is not just aware of and impressed by them, but is picking through the corn niblets in their sh-- looking for clues about their future, is just surreal.

Someone needs to invite chipdouglas here. Dude has a Billy Mays (who died from hookers and blow) avatar, he’d fit right in.
