Depends on how much spare time you have.

Was solid, chopped WAY too early, story felt like it could have been fleshed out much better with more time.

GoT doesn't exist without it, from the mouths of producers who worked on both shows.

Tldr: it's non-faggoty hbo creative branch, worth the watch if you have free time.

Didn't read the book so I can't compare, but the show was really, really well done.
