I just heard Harold Reynolds say that years after retiring, Gaylord told him he kept it on his zipper…”Nobody’s going to come out and check that”…

I learned to load from a former big-leaguer (roommate’s dad), and he told me the same thing…in the crotch, and that was the sign to the catcher…

    Sad and sobering. I knew Gaylord from my grandpa who met him when he played for the Tacoma Giants. I sat with Gaylord's wife and kids when he won his 300 game 40+ years ago.
