They had the mechanism technically wrong. It's not really speed. They were just warping the fabric of space to shorten the distance.

I've spent countless minutes pondering wormholes. My problem is that I don't think there any way to know where they're going to take you before you hop in. I'm pretty sure warping spacetime is safer if not easier.RaceBannon said:Worm holes
