PDX homeless camps:update

I could not believe this number when I heard it but there are 700 identified homeless camps in Portland. They want to blame it on the "Boise decision" and the skyrocketing cost of housing. BS. There's now a proposal to construct a handful of homeless camps and remove all others. I guess Portland's image nationwide has finally been sullied enough for the Progressive scum running the city to do something.

Side note, over 50% of the the fire responses by the PFD last year were to homeless camps. Add that to all of the other costs the taxpayers are on the hook for where these camps are concerned.

This is what Progressive give us. They take a once beautiful city and turn it into a ghost town shithole. No wonder the Vancouver Waterfront is exploding with development and jammed with people.

If you build it they will come. Building them housing is total insanity! These people will never work. They don't want to. They want to live free and off of everyone else. Criminals and drug addicts mix in all the crazies and it's a very toxic mess.

Housing First is a failed model and only feeds the Military-IndustrialHomeless Complex.

Catholic Charities in Spokane is a multi-million dollar "non-profit" corporation sucking at the teet of the City of Spokane/State of Washington. Their upper level management are all pulling $150K to $300K salaries plus Cadillac bennies.

A large percentage of the homeless are permanently brain damaged. Pretending they just need some counseling and a job opportunity is absolute magic unicorn sh*t. They always will be unable to care for themselves and need to be institutionalized. The recidivism rate for serious drug addicts is really high. I don't think the left has the moral courage to clean up the problem. Rudy G showed how to do it and Mayor Ted isn't going to institutionalize repeat illegal "campers".
Closing mental hospitals. not locking up loons or criminals and emptying prisons and jails onto the streets is the problem.

The stat used to be that 1 in 10 people are mentally ill enough to be a danger to others. I would bet big money that number is much higher right now.

The Boise decision says you can camp on public lands IF no housing options are made available to you. None of these camps should exist because there are options but the vast majority of the homeless do not want to comply with the rules for housing them. It also did not make local ordinances null and void. They're not enforced because Progressives choose not to enforce them.

Legalizing drug use made the problem worse. All of these camps are filled with stolen materials. Enforce the law. And yes, if that means locking up homeless people then do it. There is no right to live on the streets, and commit crimes and do drugs.

Yep, but for Reagan they'd be all over this problem trying to fix it.

I listened to an editor from the W-Weekly and I was actually quite surprised with his take on the whole PDX homeless camp problem. The dude was to the Right of Lars Larson on this. They have a piece out now. We have laws against illegal chop shops but somehow the homeless have them set up and no one cares.

Are you sure it isn't Lincoln's fault?

Public dumping, fires, stolen materials, there are any number of violations that you could be citing and prosecuting these homeless camps for. I don't have a problem using the jail system to incarcerate and institutionalize these people.

If you were a PDX homeowner and you decided to use your front yard as a garbage dump, how long before the fines start mounting and the city moves to declare your place a public health hazard?

You have homeless camps here where the garbage is just flowing down hillsides and nothing is done. Imagine the rats around these places. There have been seven homeless people who have burned to death when their place went up in flames. I've seen some shit driving through PDX and I just SMH.

"Which PDX camp do you live in?" would be a great Duck Refuge poll.

The thing about the "Boise decision" - they don't have much if any FILTH in Boise.

They dealt with their problem, built the right amount of shelter spaces and (in Idaho) don't give their filth free shit.

It's really quite simple. Quit giving filth free shit and they'll move to where the free shit is best.

Go from Post Falls/CDA to Spokane and see the difference in FILTH in less than 30 minutes.
