    I watched it that night. It was very compelling, and very uncomfortable for Letterman, maybe the most uncomfortable I've ever seen him. IFL'ed Zevon, enough that when ring-tunes were a thing, this was mine...

    I saw Billy Bob Thornton do a tribute on Letterman some time after this...I think it was soon after Zevon passed away. It was also a really funny, touching show. Billy Bob sang lead performing Werewolves of London. It was good.

    Billy Bob has a band called the box mechanics. Saw them a couple years ago. For a guy who’s a talented actor, he was shy and awkward on stage. Weird stage presence for sure but a good singer.

    He's a perfect fit to cover Zevon on stage though. He seemed pretty natural and they had a blast playing that song.
