If nothing else, though, we now know what a desperate misjudgment it was for Democrats to subtly assist Lake in the GOP primary. They thought they were propping up a patsy, when they were really helping create a star they may have to fear and loathe for years.

All of that was a mistake in retrospect. What was probably a bigger mistake was letting people like Hobbs run unopposed for the primary. Though she was probably promised that in exchange for carrying out certain activities prior.

All these people (both sides) have so much dirt on each other by design. It’s what props up the administrative state. The great fear of outsiders is mostly that they are too clean by politician standards, thus uncontrollable.
