The offense was poetry for three quarters but the defense was what maxed my sweats. Pass defense is a work in progress. A bunch of dudes that were taught zone schemes for their UW careers are now asked to cover one on one. I'm willing to cut them some slack. The Dline, edge defenders and the LB's played great games last night. Fun to watch the defense attempt to dictate terms to the offense. They could not run. They didn't have a clean pocket. I feel like the 66K that were in attendance were loud and effecting because the defense is worth screaming for. As strong as the defense was from 2014-19 it was not exciting to watch or cheer for. I'll risk a couple chunk plays if the defense can demoralize the opponent. Comments and anal-asis from the pod would be appreciated.
I'd like to hear a discussion about how incredibly on-brand these sad little UW player NIL ventures are. While Oregon and USC boosters are handing kids bags of cash, kids from UW are doing NIL the way it was intended by trying to hawk shitty t shirts with their names on it to try to make a couple hundred bucks. I have this image of sewing machines set up in the locker rooms so the players can graft "Savvy" and "ZTF" onto some purple American Apparel shirts after practice and having a business school prof come in once a quarter to make sure they are doing their taxes correctly.
Now that you've had time for it to sink in that UW's success will mean a quality win for Oregon later in the season that propels them back into the playoffs, are you still happy about the win?
