The DM.C Fallacy

I am not a TBS.

What does amaze me is how DM.C continues to say Peterman only recruited 1 4* recruit.

I did some research and that is true.

The standard should not be what Peterman did compared to Washington, but what he did compared to his schools

What Kim and his fat crew fail to mention, very few 4* recruits go to mid-tier schools.

From what I can see, brief scanning, only 2009 and 2010 did any 4* kids go to the MWC.

Apples to apples.

What does stand out, with the exception of 2 years ... Peterman was #1 or #2 in recruiting ranks in the MWC.

I concur 100% on this point ... In fact this is one of the biggest arguments against him with my Sark loving friends... With roughly equal recruiting against his MWC peers ... He schooled them on the field.

This is what matters.... Develop your players to your system so they execute with fucking precision and make as few mistakes as possible.

This is also the reason why I don't care if he brings in all new coaches ... He's done it before... He knows what he's doing.

This is why I asked Kimmy to back up his stat line and let me know how many 4 or 5 star athletes other coaches from non AQ schools brought in before they went on to bigger and better things. How many 4 or 5 star kids did Pat "tuff" Hill bring in? How many did Harbaugh get at San Diego?

    That's the comparison that matters.

A total of seven 4* kids went to MWC since 2007 ... and it occurred over two years.

One would think SDSU could whoop ass in recruiting ...

In what way are 3 star and 4 star football players fundamentally different? Why would one succeed in recruiting one but not the other?

The doog crowd are all overly obsessed with star ratings. WGAF if you get four stars when they're pussies that max out their potential in high school.

4*s are more likely to come in, not get redshirted (because they're fucking 4*s, what do you expect?) and end up being misused/not developed properly, like Cody Bruns, Kevin Smith, Sione Potoae, and maybe Darrell Daniels (he really should've RS'd instead of playing Special Teams and switching to TE midseason... I hope Sark didn't fuckup his Husky career).

To get semi-serious in this irrelevantly nonscensical thread, I believe the fundamental differences between 3-star and 4-star recruits are promotional and potential:

Promotional because most 4(and 5)-star recruits typically live and grow as prep athletes in large media markets where teen-stalking, self-proclaimed recruiting experts are constantly shagging the names and statistical hyperbole of the best performing in the best high school programs.

Potential because it's evident that the prospects for 3(or lower rated)-star recruits matriculating into the best they can be at the college and NFL levels is greater than the typical 4 and 5-star recruits, who as have likely developed as prep superstars closer to the maximum degree of their potential.

In all this expert postulating over college football recruiting, a fact of nature seems to get lost in the minds of many. Far more 17-18 year old teens are still just kids becoming men when they graduate from high school than are not. I think all college recruiters know this and it's the coaches willing to work the hardest to find, sign, and develop their fair share of 3 or lower-star OKG's that are more likely to succeed.

Almost every coach in the modern era at UW has been able to recruit top 25 classes.

Gilby's one class (2004) was 22nd and 19th in terms of average stars.

Ty's classes in terms of avg stars were ranked the following:

    2005- 40
    2006- 30
    2007- 29
    2008- 21

    Sark

    2009- free pub!
    2010- 23
    2011- 28
    2012- 29
    2013- 19

Take out the first year of the new coach and as long as he breathes, he's assured of bringing in a top 30 class every year.

Even with the last 4 years of only 1 top 20 class, UW will finish this season in top 15 of metrics and probably again next year. If Petersen can consistently bring in classes that are ranked around 20th then UW will be a top 10 program under his regime.

    Washington recruits itself.

The fact Peterman can dominate his division and pull off upsets against the "big boys" tells me going after recruiting is fucktarded.
