The President liked them too. It was a good natured ribbingDoog_de_Jour said:I loved Dana Carvey’s Bush Sr. sketches on SNL. Especially during the first Gulf War.

I was so pissed off the night he lost to the smug bastard Clinton. RIP

Good riddence. He was Hitler.

92 is the moment the wheels came off and our country became ever more polarized. The right viewed bubba as an illegitimate Pres and in a lot of ways he was unfit for the office. The the left considered Bush 43 an election stealer.Gilbystaint said:I was so pissed off the night he lost to the smug bastard Clinton. RIP

I don't know that I'd say that. The right certainly used the tax increases as fodder. And they stated investigating Clinton in January 1994. But in the late 90s they actually worked together on a political level.YellowSnow said:

I personally think this was the moment that politics became unworkable. (2010)
“The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.”
Then from there, Twitter and 24 hour news doesn't allow for any compromise on either side. Yes I'm talking Democrats being pieces of shit too. -
Agreed. From a generation gone-by. Pilot with actual real service, star athlete and good student at Yale, made $$ in the private sector and, wait for it ... comportment.YellowSnow said:Last President that I actually liked and respected.
Had the right idea in Kuwait: protect your friends, show you can kick some ass, but don't get too pregnant there.
Don't know that I would knight him an all-timer, but a solid president.
As for bubba, I'm conflicted. I like actual smart people, and bubba is no dummy.
But while I'm not smart enuff in the economis to really appreciate what touched off the 2008 recession, I know that the housing bubble was a big part of it or why once it started it made things go from bad to disastrous. And I know that bubba contributed mightily to the bubble by pumping Empterman-level steroid liquidity into the mortgage financing market which brought people into housing that weren't financially equipped to be there. Of course Wall Street bundling those turds and securitizing them in bundles played a part, but bubba had the Frannies buying those things like lap dances at an Atlanta strip club.
Anyway, yeah, bubba had his issues. Always thought he and HW struck an odd picture of friendship. Two entirely different human beings with little in common besides Yale.
