They "looked past" cal? Pete's main thing has been every game is tuff. If his own players don't believe that what has been the point of the last 4 years? Bring back Sark.

You can say the same message over and over yet when you get lazy you get punched in the mouth

Cal was looking past UCLA to Oregon State

Pete is effective at communicating to the media the importance of preparing for each opponent the same way.Bread said:

Apparently he is just not effective at communicating that to his team. -
That's just how players explain getting beat by inferior opponents. Standard losing player speak. He probably said they also need to execute better somewhere in the interview as well. They said the same shit after ASU last year. Fact of the matter is the talent gap is not as great as it was in 2016. The O is not as good without a burner and without Tedford, thus terrible road loses at ASU and now Cal. O needs to simplify and get more dependent on a physical run game. Pete wants to take games into 4th quarter and rely on a bend but don't break D with a finesse O? Doesn't add up.

Tree going to rape us

You guys have never heard a player interviewed after losing to an inferior team?
This is what they say. Everytime. -

They fucking lost to Cal and some guy named gerbels. The team was lifeless and lazy. Dropped balls, shit passes, shit blocking, worthless play calling. Ahmed had 8 fucking carries. Kept running horizontal when it was clear Cal was ready for it over and over again. The whole thing was a circus. Fuck that loss. 2018 is a year to forget. Lousy conference, the coug actually getting playoff talk. We only have a few more years to go for that special season. Maybe Samek can come back from the dead and predict an undefeated season to make it even specialer.DawgWagonDan said:That's just how players explain getting beat by inferior opponents. Huskies will beat Stanford and Oregon State, then lose to WSU. End up playing Texas Tech in the Alamo Bowl.

I haven't heard much from some of those guys who were demanding Haener replace Browning! He sure stunk up the place. Jesus, if he'd just have fallen on the ball instead of passing the Huskys may have won...

There isn't much to say after that brief debacle. But I would actually start Haener against Stanford.ApostleofGrief said:I haven't heard much from some of those guys who were demanding Haener replace Browning! He sure stunk up the place. Fuller is stupid. And Lazy.

Willing to bet that same quote was uttered in 1990 after UCLA. As has been mentioned. That shit happens every year. Alabama does it too. They just have enough talent to get away with it.
-
Well, he needs to get some more mop up type of duty before a tough start IMO. He looked like a deer in the headlights out there. Oregon State would be a good game to stick him in for a few series.DerekJohnson said:

Not only is it easier to defend and harder to block, but it Ahmed gets happy feet while he looks for the perfect crease, usually for no gain or maybe 1/2 a yard, where if he just blasts through a hole, he's gonna get 3 or 4 yards.
Gaskin has an amazing ability to feel the heat to GO NOW and force open a crease if he has too. Ahmed doesn't have that gift. And it's killing UW. -
Yep, early in the game he had a 9 yard gain between the tackles and up with minus two fucking yards.TurdBuffer said:

Running away from the defense, instead of running through it, favors the defense and ultimately never works. This is the misguided chunk that needs excising from Pete's brain.jecornel said:

This. Yes, the Huskie O needs a power back. Peterman likes the shifty backs, which work a lot, but not all the time.TurdBuffer said:

I don't disagree, that's why i said we? need to simplify the O and be more dependent on a physical run game. F all this ding dong motion and horizontal play calling.jecornel said:
