The thing is that there are holes on this team and as others have talked about this program is a little bit in transition in the leveling up process …
We have a decent DL against the run … but no pass rush
We have decent MLBs but they aren't exactly the fastest or stoutest
We're going to struggle against mobile QBs with the above setup
Bottom line is that we need to be a little more athletic in our defensive front and that's coming with what we've been recruiting …
It's a fine line because there are teams in the PAC that are never going to run the ball up the middle and always go wide so we have to recruit to be able to stop that …
But if that's the only way that you recruit then when you run up against the SEC or top end Big 10 programs you're going to get slaughtered in the trenches …
We're good enough to hang in the trenches …
We're going to get the doors blown in against elite spread teams right now …
That being said we won for the first time in LA against UCLA in 23 years tonight ... so while it's ugly, it's kind of like winning in Tucson in 2016 ... you take the fucking win and you move the fuck along to next week.
