But Mario Cristobal and the Ducks aren’t going to “take our foot off the gas” as the weekly practice regimen rolls on ahead of the Oct. 13 showdown with No. 10 Washington at Autzen Stadium (12:30 p.m., ABC or ESPN/ESPN2)

Sometimes, during these late hours, I feel like it's just you and me against the world.

Nothing like two weeks of intense practice and thinking about the game only to tense up on the 13th and fizzle out.

Thanks Taft!

The gas pedal metaphor is supposed to be used as the opposite of coasting with a lead. You should use it like: "we were ahead 34-17 at halftime but instead of coasting we kept our foot on the gas."
But it doesn't make sense to use it in preparing for the game. What does that mean? You're going to drive to practice. Yeah, keep your foot on the gas...
