What is biggest cause of Husky Stadium fan apathy?

Write-in OptionDonor sections too expensive so full of rich old white folk. I was in 108 and the lady in front of me kept giving me the stink eye for yelling on third downs and big plays. And everyone sat down right away rather than staying standing.
Student section....I feel there's more students that can attend now than there was in the early 90s on the north sideline. So that's probably a wash. -

When you try to make the stadium experience like home home still wins so why go to the stadium?
It used to be its own experience with only a band. Yes I am older than dirt but that is when the crowd was really in it
You also didn't have every game except Pac 12 games available to watch if you stayed home back in the day
If you want people to come you need to give them a reason and something they can only get if they do come -

But it really is all of it. Night games, Crazy Larry, shit product for 15 years, Seachickens getting good, old logger Seattle > new hipster faggy Seattle, traffic, parking/tailgating challenges, the changing demographic of the student body (I swear only half the kids grew up in WA and even those are mostly the super smart nerds of their schools), and 70" HD TV's. Everything all culminated over the last 20 years to make much of this not worth fooling with.YellowSnow said:

Husky Football Circa 2002- 15Sat night really depressed me. I know our? house has sucked for a long, long time but it feels like we aren't making any headway in terms of the atmosphere.
I can remember my first Husky on my "official" recruiting visit (LOL) to UW on a crisp fall day in the mid 90's. We had like 74,000 butts in the seats at kick off against some crappy non con opponent.
And god damn it, I miss this guy!!

Write-in Optionapropros of something...Del Conte and Martin have reconfigured the seating to give Texas students a contiguous bloc of seats with the Texas band blasting from the middle. They have made that student seating first-come, first-serve to get those students in the stadium and yelling. They have cut down on ads on the video boards and forbidden on-field, thanks-for-writing-that-big-check presentations if those presentations bring down the energy level in the stadium.

I'm stumped. Have we been terminated as a program and we'll never be back? Memorial Stadium was built back when Cal was winning multiple natties and they could draw 70,000. Maybe some teams can't ever get that back.BearsWiin said:All of them

After watching part of the ASU game, I would say you have a lot of catching up to do. Modernize your shit already, you look like you're stuck back in the 70's or 80's with the boring uniforms and the dark, depressing field. Then there's that hideous droning siren every time you score. Update that shit and make it edgier. It sounds like a dog howling, I get it, but it needs to be updated.
-
The real answer is big screen TV's and getting older. Nobody is too crazy about football outside SEC country.
-
Moving the student sectionAthletic departments should be run like cigarette and alcohol companies, free shit and hook them young so when they have money they are loyal idiot customers that just throw money at you to be abused and maybe get to relive their "glory" days.
moving the student section was royally fucktarded.
Just copy UT or TAMU (very cheap and accommodating student tickets and policies) and breed a beautiful cult following that will give you money even when you produce a shit product no matter where you are, the political makeup of your location, or the local sports competition. -

Stadium ain't the issue. It's the best building on the west coast. It's the culture that's gone to shit.oregonblitzkrieg said:After watching part of the ASU game, I would say you have a lot of catching up to do. Moving the student section
Those that haven't attended in a while should read this. There are so many non football related shit that happens on the field it distracts one from the game. Often its common they are going on a 2 minute diatribe about some donor (TYFY$) who is on the field for the 18th time, while the defense is up against 3rd and 4. Not to mention, television commercials really sack the environment, especially at night. But they could really improve the situation. All that being said, moving the student section was big. As I've mentioned in another thread, throwing a pick on the first play especially didn't help.whlinder said: -

We have had 4 exciting home wins in 10 years, and we play boring ass football. Big non-cons can’t come back soon enough.

Too much cash grab sponsor gimmickry and horrible music- e.g., "Purple Rain"The old Husky Stadium was better, day games and an ordinary band, not constant shit out of the jumbotron and an endless series of advertisements and lights flashing. If the old stadium had no track, that setup would have been ideal.

We also lack any real game day traditions other than the "Go Huskies" chant and whatever the fuck we do before kickoffs. Even some mid tier programs around the country have some pretty cool traditions that started relatively recently - VA Tech's "Enter Sandman", South Carolina's "Sandstorm", Wisconsin's "Jump Around". We don't have anything like that to get the fans hyped up.

Night games past the blue hairs bed times?A couple of factors: night gaymes and loud blue collars being priced out and replaced by annoying fags (many who are transplants) .
I realize longshoretrannies and some trades make pretty good money there, but don't you need to put down like $1500 just to get tickets now? It's insane.
