I certainly don't think the science is "settled" in the matter, but the position that a lot of social conservatives (not saying you so don't twist) have, which is to say all or mostly lifestyle choice is poppycock.
If you take the conservative Christian view that sexual desire isn't the basis for marriage and relationships etc. then essentially it is a lifestyle choice. It's not your fault you are sexually attracted to the same sex but it is your fault if you act on that attraction. (Not my view so don't twist just explaining the world view)
