"Silicon Valley is Bowing Down to Chinese Totalitarianism"

Google left China in 2010, claiming it was uncomfortable with the increasing censorship being implemented on the Chinese web. But now Google is planning to come back, and it has been developing a censored China-friendly version of their search engine in secret. The prospect of American tech giants moving into China sets a new precedent to the world, that cooperating with oppressive, authoritarian regimes is acceptable when it carries massive profit potential.

Apple also used to be principled when it came to privacy and encryption. In 2015 they famously declined to help the FBI unlock the encrypted iPhone involved in the San Bernadino shooting, further exemplifying their stance on privacy. However this focus on privacy only seems to apply to the West, as Apple has recently given in to Chinese regulation by handing over all their iCloud data and encryption keys. This gives the Chinese government complete access to Chinese users’ information.
A couple of weeks later, Apple further helped the Chinese government by taking down VPN apps from the Chinese app store, which were allowing users to bypass the country’s stringent censorship system.

Tech giants like Apple and Google have come a long way from their humble beginnings, and in turn, so have their morals and principles. In potentially deciding to expand into China, these companies will be openly admitting that they no longer value freedom and privacy.

Profit seems to be at the heart of these companies’ decisions, and ignoring all ethical ramifications, moving into China would indeed be a very profitable move. The question is whether we should accept this.

If they're willing to do that kind of shit over there, do you really think they would not do it here? That they are not already engaging in censorship in cooperation with the American left?

Is it difficult for you to imagine that a public company is profit driven? China's Nazi Germany's the biggest market and the smart move is to enter that market and play by their rules. Just like every other company that does business over there.

Substitute China for Nazi Germany and you would squeal like a pig and backpedal like a motherfucker. But because it's commies, socialists and Google doing it, it's ok.

There's a lot I don't like about Trump, like his EPA appointees, his favoritism toward Wall Street and large corporations, and some of his biases that come across as racist, sexist or unnecessarily divisive. I'll give the nod to his critics on that stuff. But I've seen this movie before, back in 1983, when people had "had enough" of Reagan and Mondale chose the first woman running mate.

Then came the 1984 Elections, which Reagan won by 48 states, putting an exclamation point on his first election victory, and after which the Democratic Party looked like the Gettysburg Battlefield.

I was in HS at the time, but I remember very well the arrogance of the Democratic Party throughout 1983 and 1984, prior to that election, still believing Reagan's first victory was stolen or a mistake. We could see that again, very easily.

Reagan did lose the Senate on the first mid terms

Quite normal really. Lots of Presidents have a loss in the first mid terms in their desk drawer

If the GOP keeps both houses it will cause massive panic among the dems and they will turn to a Cortez the Killer type candidate for 2020.

McConnell and Ryan act like they want to lose because losers lose
The GOP won’t keep the house and probably will have a slight minority in the Senate as well. Standard fare for a newcomer President. If the Socialists win more than 4 or 5 seats, the DNC will go their way anyway. They don’t have any establishment rainmakers. Inslee has been traveling the country under the guise of being the head of the democratic governors association. But He’s temperature taking to see how much support that He would have as Presidential nominee. Rumor is that Jeff Merkely D-OR is doing the same. Not looking good for the Dems for 2020 at this point.

So why was Obama so shitty on black employment for his first three years?
And if Trump is so racist and oppressive against blacks, why hasn't the trend reversed?

Hint: The latter question is the point. HTH.

Yeah what was going on in the US economy during those first few years?
