I think all teachers should be given a pay cut. Too many smart people teach that should be out in an industry. Since teachers are paid way too much already.

Can you imagine putting a garbage man, CPA or house painter in the photo instead?

Such heroes, thanks to them Marxism is no longer a dirty word, the 1st amendment only applies to speech that toes the correct line, and America is a white privilege nation created by slave owners. Next they'll be calling for all white cisgender males to be sent to the concentration camps.

    Fire them all.

I love teachers. I am grateful for them.

But man, what I wouldn't give to have two weeks off for Christmas, a week off in late winter, a week off in spring, and two months off in summer.

Yes, teachers work hard. But so do most other people, and most other people pay more out of pocket for healthcare and retirement while working more hours per year.

If you research the topic, you'll see a lot of conflicting studies on whether teacher pay is correlated with student performance. But even the international study recently trumpeted by the NEA showed that U.S. students are under-performing on scores by 50% in comparison to what would be expected given teacher salaries:

If teachers want more pay and argue that it improves student performance, fine. But they should expect that pay and job tenure should be linked to teaching quality and student performance.

    Careful

Can you imagine posting a magazine cover (from Canada?) without any context about what the cover article is about?

    Be a better poster!

Too many of today's teaching corps really believe they are heroes "educating the future" and sorely need to get the fuck over themselves. Most aren't the least bit heroic and simply traded a higher paycheck for a guaranteed career, plentiful time-off, and a secure retirement. You all know the types I'm talking about, posting like mad on Facebook right now, pleading for attention from everyone they know to boost their fragile egos. Both my parents were teachers, btw, and would beat the fucking shit out of today's wimpy, feeble corps with their bare hands.

Truth. One of the Throbber's two dads was a teacher. He'd knocked the shit out of troublemakers and he just was a gentle desk jockey GG vet. No gang problems. No bullying. Parents weren't lined up in the office whining about little Johnny's self esteem and special needs. The combat vet GG teachers were bad asses. Sure, most of them kept a bottle in their desk drawer but you would too after surviving the Bataan Death March.
