Hopefully after Labor Day. That would be a mess if I was wearing white pants.MikeDamone said:
So what if the climate changes? It's changed several times and will continue to do so, with us or without us. The poles will eventually reverse again, and we are in fact due for that to happen. Someday, the sun will start to become a red giant and burn the solar system to ashes. The planet is active and changing. We simply happen to be here at a time that is hospitable to supporting life. Right now it's just a mater of people fighting over control and money. There are billions and maybe trillions at stake as well as government control of the people. Of course there will be a fight.CollegeDoog said:

Jesus Christ, no. Nothing is fucking happening. Weather goes in cycles, people only started noticing all this shit when libs were screaming "LOOK!!! HURRICANE!! CAUSED BY GLOBA.... ehh heh... CLIMATE CHANGE." When the weather has a stretch of being extremely mild will the excuse be "Even Climate Change has down time" ??CollegeDoog said:Up here at 30,000 feet posting on my phone I can't address your post how I'd like to but a couple points:
1. The politicization of the issue is sad but both sides are guilty of it. Instead of trying to resolve the issue they're caught up in a game of semantics going nowhere.
2. One hurricane season isn't isolated? El Oh Fucking El. We've literally seen unprecedented hurricanes, tornadoes, and snowstorms over the last 15 years and you use this hurricane season to counter that? C'mon man. Plus that Typhoon (which is the same fucking thing as a hurricane happened this year).
3. So because other countries aren't stopping means it's ok for us to continue on a path of belligerence? I miss America the world leader dammit!
When did Americans become so fucking polarized and shallow? -
I agree. The climate is changing. It's not going to be as bad as most people are predicting. It's not going to be disastrous to the world.MikeDamone said:

The economic crisis that will result in our over reliance on fossil fuels is looming, however.
My crusade has been against those denying that climate change is man-made, because all the evidence points against them.
The Billions at stake is a sad result of this conflict, and the climate skeptics are delaying efforts that need to go into finding renewable energy. That's my biggest grievance.

A warm earth is better for us. So we have that going for us which is nice. None of us want to give up the great life carbon gives us. That's my complaint- I don't like making it more expensive for no practical reason. Or even five reasons.
The oil companies that are villified will be the companies that actually succeed in alt energy because they will make it profitable. I mock Gore because he represents a movement that squanders billions on losers like Solandra.
Two things that will never be free - healthcare and energy -
Ocean Acidification disagrees. In fact, there are numerous consequences of a warmer earth.RaceBannon said:A warm earth is better for us. So we have that going for us which is nice. The problem is the great life carbon gives us is coming to an end. It is practical to find renewable solutions for long term health of not just the energy industry but mankind.
Agree on the last part. Look at Tesla as an example. Exxon's foray into Algae research shows that is also in line with your statement. http://oilprice.com/Alternative-Energy/Biofuels/Exxons-100m-Algae-Investment-Falls-Flat.html
But the problem is these big companies are still, for the most part, ignoring it, paving the way for an energy crisis.

A cold earth is far worse. Death disease and starvation. Ocean acidification is probably over blown at this point. As far as we know there have never been as many humans alive on earth as there are now. The mini ice age was a killer. And not all that long ago.
The end of oil is another often wrongly predicted event. A little more real world experience will show you that too.
Alarmists have always been with us and the young are most susceptible to them.
I'd bet Sven's 20 bucks oil companies and other corps are indeed planning for the next thing. There is carbon is space. Its just so damn efficient. We are carbon beings in a carbon universe -

Are you comparing this to pre-1900 temperatures? Couldn't that also be attributed to the lack of disease preventing medicines?

Fair enough

Oil reserves are depleting. This is fact. Production has peaked within the last10 years and literally every study shows that by 2050 we are fucked.
Alarmists have always been with us and the young are most susceptible to them.
Low tweak
I'd bet Sven's 20 bucks oil companies and other corps are indeed planning for the next thing.
That's speculation. The investment figures show a minimal effort to find alternatives
There is carbon is space. Its just so damn efficient. We are carbon beings in a carbon universe -
Carbon based energy is by far the most portable, most readily available, and provides the most energy per dollar than any other source. It isn't even close. And to say we are going run out in 100 years is 100% false. Check the facts. So the solution has become make the carbon fuels artificially more expenses through taxation and fees. In fact, taxes collected from a gallon of gas far exceed the evil oil company profits. It's a sweet gig for the government. No risk and reap billions. If you look at oil company profits, they are in line with other business and industries.RaceBannon said:A cold earth is far worse. Death disease and starvation. So, only data from Democrat administrations paying scientists to come to conclusions that add to their funding next year are acceptable?CollegeDoog said:

The evidence against is mostly politicization like changing the name. They can critique the semantics but not the actual fucking data.
And please if you're gonna bring data to the table it better not be from the dailycaller, red state.com, breitbart, or studies paid for by climate change denial groups.
When did the lesson "Question Authority", become "Question only the authority that doesn't support your position, you racist bastard" ??? -

Here are some graphs
I particularly like this one because there have been posts recently about the ice returning. If you look at the overall trend this anomaly has happened in the past, but the overall decline continues.
There's plenty more beyond this.
Hey dipshit, would you believe NASA?CollegeDoog said:

I am not going to go to the efforts of CollegeDoog BUT
I have a PhD in geophysics (aka I actually understand this shit unlike a lot of you third brains who parrot whatever you want to hear).
I work in the oil industry.
I can assure you anthropogenic global warming is completely real. -

I looked up HADSST3, your source for that graph and found their conclusions actually refuted what you posted. How's it feel to be an incompetent fucktard who falls for lies?PRedoubt said:
