Peterman has been quoted as saying recruiting is over 50 percent of the job. You are confusing star rating with recruiting.PostGameOrangeSlices said:

It was a fluke. It was Petersen's fault as much or more so than Malloe. You fags could care less about our current DL dominating every year Malloe has been here and you now like him because of teen bois.
Malloe is killing it.
This is such fucking bullshit
Going off of star rankings UW would not have sniffed the playoffs in 2016, lead by a nasty defense made up of 3 stars that was the second best in the country rather easily.
Coaching matters.
Recruiting is about getting top caliber talent yes but if that top caliber talent is a 3 star DT named Vita Vea who plays running back at 325 pounds then you are gonna have some 3 stars. Star rating has a high correlation with success but that doesn't mean it = recruiting. -

Over 50% of the time is spent on recruiting because the NCAA has limits on how much time you can spend coaching.jhfstyle24 said:

That doesn't mean recruiting is over 50% of the difference between winners and losers.
You have to be able to recruit but you damn sure better be able to coach as well.
Thankfully Malloe can do both. -

Im viewing the percentage from the lense of being good at the job, not percentage of time spent, hope this helps. -
I just want to win something that matters. I don't care how. 5 star recruits? Cool. 2 stars who they coach up? Cool. I see maff says it is easier to do it with 5 stars than 2 stars, but just fucking win. My liver needs this.

Coaching and recruiting are both important. The exact percentages don’t really matter. We need to be excellent at both and that is what good fans demand. In arguing for coaching over recruiting you are creating a false dichotomy.PostGameOrangeSlices said:FremontTroll said:

Specific to Malloe your hindsight 20/20 argument also relies on that false dichotomy. We demand coaches who are great at all aspects. Not to mention in 2016-2017 offseason we didn’t have a lot of evidence either way on his coaching and development when we were agitating since he inherited Gaines and Vita from Choate. Vita’s progression is a big point for his coaching. We will see how we look this year without him. -
Peterman's statement is often taken out of context. He was talking about the time spent on each aspect of the job, not the importance of each aspect.
Coaching is just more important than recruiting, IMO. There is a reason why good coaches tend to kick ass no matter where they are, and they don't take four years to do it. Of course to reach the highest levels you have to do both. -
Good coaches will eventually attract good recruits because people figure it out.RealRhino said:Peterman's statement is often taken out of context. He was talking about the time spent on each aspect of the job, not the importance of each aspect.

Probably better to have substance over style ... usually. -
I love all of you

So he's a good coach that gets results on the field and also gets talent. What are you actually trying to say?WeakarmCobra said:
