Sports Illustrated’s Preseason Top 25

Why are the defending national champions ranked only at number 17? A real slap in the face to UCF.

I’m surprised they didn’t consider Oregon’s offseason natty when making the rankings. Only seems fair.Gladstone said:https://www.si.com/college-football/2018/08/07/rankings-preseason-top-25-polls-clemson-alabama

4. Washington Huskies
Last year: 10–3 (7–2 Pac-12); Lost to Penn State in Fiesta Bowl
SI Top 100 players: Six: OL Trey Adams (No. 20), CB Byron Murphy (No. 23), DT Greg Gaines (No. 27), S Taylor Rapp (No. 55), RB Myles Gaskin (No. 58), QB Jake Browning (No. 92)
X-Factor: For three straight seasons, Washington has led the Pac-12 in allowing the fewest total yards and points. The key to the D will once again be the secondary, which allowed only 10 TDs and has all five starters back. As hard as it is to imagine, it’s possible that the unit will be even better. Cornerback Byron Murphy missed seven games with a broken foot last year, but in the six games he played he had three picks. He is at 100%, as is safety Taylor Rapp, who finished third on the team with 59 tackles, despite being slowed by injuries. Rapp and safety JoJo McIntosh give the Huskies the most intimidating safety duo in the conference—if not the country. — -
You mean 0-1 heading into week 2?Hippopeteamus said:can you imagine the hype as the undefeated Huskies head into their first loss against cal?

What sucks for you guys is that if you lose to us you can count on us to drop games against ASU and UCLA.AuburnFan said:

While I also give SI credit for realizing there are 5 players on this team better than Browning, SI should realize that there are at least 85 players on the team better than Browning.

This game is HUGE for both of us. Win or lose ... I think Auburn skates the rest of the way until the UGA and Bama games (not buying theUW_Doog_Bot said:

Miss St hype and we beat them 49-10 last year) So with a win against Wash and a win against UGA .... we could perhaps lose to Bama
with 1 loss and still make the playoffs (a la Bama last year). A loss against UW and we aren't going to sniff the playoffs because we'd have this gauntlet:
@UGA, at home vs cupcake, @Bama and vs @UGA in SECCG ... not going to happen. I think our worst case scenario is 9-3 with Ls to UW, UGA and UA.
but best case is 12-0 or 11-1 for this team.
Huge Week 1 .... You can afford to drop one when you play 3 top 6 teams on your schedule. Hell, Bama got in last year with a cake schedule aside from playing @ Auburn (only loss)
-
I don't think Auburn gets the Bama exception on the playoffs because you know, you're Auburn. You lose to Bama and Bama gets in. You beat Bama and Bama gets in
-
While we are not bama ... who got in last year despite losing to Auburn and not having to play UGA or anyone else that finished in the Top 25 ....RaceBannon said:I don't think Auburn gets the Bama exception on the playoffs because you know, you're Auburn. I feel confident that Bama, UGA and maybe you fags will remain in the Top 10 (by the end of the year) despite losing to us Week 1 ... because who else in the Pac12 is any good .... good enough to beat y'all?
No one plays a schedule like ours. Our three toughest opponents are away from our stadium (where we haven' t lost in two years (soon to be three).
That'll be big for the committee. Hell, we could lose to #6 UW maybe lose to then #2 UGA, but beat Bama, get a rematch with UGA and get in with two losses. -
It will be speeshual being the underdog week 1 as the #4 team in the cuntry and proceeding to get plungered Oregon State style.

Would be a bold move leaving 0-12 washington in the top 10.AuburnFan said:
