Point taken and I don't disagree with the idea that a big wind up for a QB is something that you'd ideally coach out of a player ... the whole wasted motion thing.

I kind of do disagree with that. QBs like Darnold, meaning relatively priviliged white kids from the west coast who can afford tutoring, have had so much coaching by the time they enter college that it's too late to substantially change their mechanics.

I watched a fair amount of tape of Darnold last year, and it was obvious he had worked to shorten his throwing motion, but it kept breaking down every time he had to slide around or scramble, which is when Darnold is at his best anyway.

Spending a lot of time fixing mechanics that are part of muscle memory is kind of a waste when you can spend that time learning things that have a much better chance of actually sticking, like both post and pre-snap reading of defenses, and adjustments.

Locker ran the wing-t and locked on to his primary received even under tutelage of QB Sark.

This kid is a sophomore in HS and can flip through X, Y, Z quicker than the first cum load you dumped.

I know Locker ran a wing T in HS. It's part of the reason he was slow to develop. Ya, he was limited at QB but he was the best athlete we've ever lined up at the position, bar none.

I never said they wouldn't finish strong. That has been the typical sc recruiting trend.

However, what I'm saying is that the sc fans are used to a tier higher of commits at this time. This is historically different.

Right now, sc has taken 4 kids recently that at least 3 of 4 are not typically "sc-worthy" according to some of their fans. Kids that have had minimal offers or exposure relatively speaking.

Commits that are making the equivalent of sc doogs openly question on their boards what the hell is happening with sc.

That's what's going on at sc right now and we're benefitting at the moment. The sc brand is a little shakier than normal. We can hope that this the new normal.

Those borderline commits are just that. Cannon fodder that will get cut loose when better players want to join. Just a way to pressure better recruits with the stale "we are filling up fast line". Nothing to see here until they actually finish outside a top six in February.
