SECCountry: Season-opener preview: Beating Washington would be great start, but won’t be easy

To get an early look at the Huskies and what’s happening in their spring practices, SEC Country enlisted the help of Washington beat reporter Ryan S. Clark of the Tacoma News Tribune. (Be sure to follow him on Twitter through that link for Huskies coverage.)

Here’s a breakdown of Chris Petersen’s squad and how it matches up with Auburn in what should be a great opener in Atlanta.

Interesting read. I didn't know you guys had an elite LT. That will be an exciting matchup as AU has one of the best DL in the country.

It is unlikely he is back by Auburn.

Tackles are good, and we may have better guard play this season, but Nick Harris is still part of the OL so your pass rush should be fine. Just send one man over the center and drop 10.

Nah, sources say Gaskin has really improved his pass pro so he'll help Harris. They should send 2 over the center and drop 9.

Our other T was first team all conference, but Adams is iffy after a torn ACL last year.

Our? D line is going to destroy Auburn

We? will lose on Browning turnovers in our own endzone

Its too early in the season for Browning to be in choke mode.

That has nothing to do with Browning other that it is very impressive he didnt die
Browning sucks but he is a pretty TUFF son of a bitch
    Rudy carpenter tuff?

Gotta love the "I only act like I'm hurt when I make a shitty play" attitude of these role models

I disagree. We return 3 solid starters. LT is where I’m the most concerned for AU’s OL.
But to choose from that spot are 3 solid guys:
4 Star Tega Wongo (started several games)
Only played 1 year of HS, but is the biggest freak on the team.
    Grad transfer from UMass
& 5 Star RS Fresh Calvin Ashley (top HS LT 2 years ago)
    The other spots are solid.

I will say we had 2 Centers go down in This Spring.

But no one will destroy this OL (not even Bama & UGA). Could they/UW have some success?
    Sure.

You keep unironically citing their HS stars in your scouting reports. Are they fucking good or not

Yes they’re good. Our OL coach who is not big on giving praise thinks Tega will be an ALL SEC OT/NFL OT before he leaves.
Grad transfer? I think he’ll provide depth, not start.
Ashley, he’ll start when Tega leaves.
Tega & Ashley are good ... grad transfer meh

When you cite stars and not actual preformance on the field, then they suck.

I look forward to Jaylen, Levi, Greg, and Josiah eating your interior OL. While Bowman and Benning get buttfucked on the edge.

So...? Browning threw for 93 TDs his senior year, and has 4 years of HS ball under his belt.

Other than he was coming from the side from which Brownlee could easily see him and chose to not move an inch, I agree.

Ehh, the interior is not what Im worried about on AUs OL. We’re good Guard to Guard.
I worry about Browning having a good day vs a couple of new faces in AUs secondary.

Is Browning a DT QB? I feel confident in saying our DL will get pressure on him. How does he do on the run?
