Random observations.
Tryon needs to play. SAM?
BBK needs to sit.
Best position group on the team: TE.

Yes. Thank god for Yankoff, Sirmon, and Eason. If Haener ever had to start christ.DeepSeaZ said:uzi said:Did Ty Jones spend most of his time lined up at WR? Or did they have him doing more TE?
Is that really Haener? I had no idea he was that small.backthepack said:

When you look at the LBs it’s actually really easy to see that BBK is the most active one we have

Gaskin looked like he’s going to ball out even harder this year
And ty Jones looked like a monster -
First weekend of non-shit weather in a long time, I-5 is all fucked up with repairs going on this weekend, and not a real game.ExtraChrisB said:
I understand it's a barely glorified practice, but wtf? This is a top 10 program and there's high school baseball games drawing bigger crowds today.
This "game" hasn't been a big draw for a while. -
Meh. This is just classic confirmation bias. It's telling because we want it to be telling. But these exact comments are made by husky halfbrains every single time they attended a spring scrimmage. Sometimes they're telling, sometimes they're not. Time will tell.
Either way it will be chinteresting. -
I’d prefer that BBK was the 3rd or 4th ILB ... but when you look at the roster he is what he isPitchfork51 said:

That’s more of an indictment of Gregory than a praising of BBK -
Turns out our fans still suck.ExtraChrisB said:

That being said, I'm pleased with the athleticism along the D Line. Levi, Jaylen Johnson, and Josiah Bronson are guys that look like they belong on the D line of a top 10 team.

It’s embarrassing that Haener is the #2, but Sirmon looks like he’s going to throw 4 picks a game and Yankoff can’t throw. At all.

How can either of our 4* QB recruits be bad passers? Is the playbook so complicated that these kids pannic and lose all muscle memory?haie said:It’s embarrassing that Haener is the #2, but Sirmon looks like he’s going to throw 4 picks a game and Yankoff can’t throw. At all.

When was the last time UW had two 4* QB recruits in the same class?uzi said:

Just 1 practice, but I thought both of them looked awful in completely different ways. Sirmon looks the part but makes dip shit decisions and has that “look at my cannon for an arm as I throw it right to the safety” vibe.uzi said:

Yankoff just looks fucking pathetic throwing. Which is why he just tucked and ran every play when he got in the scrimmage.
Haener is going to get it blocked by a lineman every pass so let’s stop talking about him altogether.
Eason made a few bad decisions but you can tell he knows what the fuck he is doing. Has really nice touch.
Browning was the most accurate from what I saw but he still throws a fucking rainbow of an 8 hard stop to the tight end.
Bryant and Jones and Gaskin/Ahmed will have to bail the offense out. -
Jeff Lindquist and Cyler Miles wasn't exactly a recipe for successBaseman said:

The Freshman will learn and grow up ... good news for them is that they likely won't be asked to do shit for at least 2 years.haie said:

Sirmon's arm looks the part but like a lot of kids with huge arms, they've been able to rely on their arm for the balance of their life. The fundamentals will start mattering for him and what I'm assuming you're referencing with regards to the "throw it right to the safety" vibe was a situation where he made a poor decision that was compounded by some really terrible footwork. And that's going to be his biggest problem for a while.
And in all honesty, that's also going to be the primary area of focus for Eason this year will be really working on his footwork to allow himself to have that foundation for his arm. You can see this in some of the Spring videos.
Yankoff isn't as tall as either Sirmon or Eason and that's noticeable seeing them stand side by side. Both Eason and Sirmon throw downhill given their height and motion that is more over the top. Yankoff's release point is a lot lower and combined with his height it could create some challenges. His legs obviously are the wild card. At this point, I think I'd still bet on Sirmon long term but there's a lot of time between the decision has to be made.
Haener is short ... really short. What I'll give him credit for is that he's got balls and isn't afraid to make a throw into a tight windor or to allow his receiver to go make a play. His height combined with his release being on the low release will cause him long-term roblms and some turnover potential.
Browning CAN be successful if put in the right spot with the offense. He still needs to trust his receivers to do a little more but we'll see if that comes a little bit. Ty Jones will be fine on the outside. Hunter Bryant will be fine. I'd imagine that Chico will be fine. But the offense needs to run through 9 and 26 with a run heavy offense.

It was a poorly kept secret in fall camp '17 that Haener had thoroughly outplayed Browning.

Here's 4* QB's signed with Washington in the last two decades:
Colson Yankoff
Jacob Sirmon
Jake Browning
K. J. Carta-Samuels
Troy Williams
Cyler Miles
Jeff Lindquist
Nick Montana
Jake Locker
Casey Paus
Cody Pickett
For a program that once pride itself as QBU, what the fuck happened?
