Corey Luciano, 4* 2019 OL, Pleasant Hill (Diablo Valley JC), CA (COMMITTED)

He is a G and a mauler. He had offers from USC and other top tier teams.
Here's his freshman hudl: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/4335054/59b4bff6d21ae303e0be6152
He's listed at 6-5, 285, but I'm going to guess 6-3.5, 270. I like him as a

He was listed as 270 out of HS. The JC roster lists him at 286. Either way, he is on the lean side. He ought to have the frame to play at 295+.
I wonder if he was a non-qualifier or went to JC because he didn't have high level offers, which is rare, but happens occasionally.
ETA: He has a nasty streak and looks like he has good knee bend. Huff better clean up his technique or he is going to get A LOT of holding flags. Right now he looks like he is at least as good a tackler as a blocker. -
What class will he be apart of this coming season? Soph?
Is he eligible to play immediately? -
2018? 247 has 2019?
seems like Huff can recruit. getting a CA kid offered by USC... -
I'm going to assume he'll redshirt this year and come in with 3-3 as a RS-Soph.Del_Griffith said:What class will he be apart of this coming season? Soph?

He graduates from JC in December 2018. So unless he went to JC as a full qualifier (rare) he will be part of the 2019 class.Del_Griffith said:What class will he be apart of this coming season? Soph?

I'm waiting for Scott Eklund to confirm.
Will let everyone know if/when it's official. -
Yeah - I fixed it, I meant 'graduating in 2018' - am stoopit.
Anyway, he looks like a wrestler when he plays. He's not the kind of kid where you are like 'MAN WE HAVE TO OFFER THIS KID' - so they are up to something. But tremendously flexible kid. -
In that area and especially that HS (same that J Haener and walk-on kicker P Henry went to) it would actually be extremely likely that he is a full qualifier. It's an extremely affluent area and 90%+ of the kids qualify to go on to 4 year schools.AIRWOLF said:

Still waiting ...
Nothing yet from the guys at Dawgman.
May be a false alarm.
-
In other words this kid is a great pick up as long as we land a couple of elite fattys
-
Yeah, I know Danville. I just noticed that is where he went to HS after I posted.Saracen said:

So theoretically, he could be a late addition to the 2018 class. I'd still guess not though. -
Real Dawg Roof retweeted Luciano's verbal commitment from his own Twitter feed over 30 minutes ago.
Dawgman in search of better sources, apparently.
Either way, things getting interesting. -
He goes to Diablo Valley. Doesn't sound like a church school to me.Saracen said:

Can he play BUCK?
-
Fuck yeah. Was hoping OL or (laugh) edge rusher.
-
I’m seeing nothing about hips.
-
Kid went to HS with Haener and Payton Henry apparently. This kid must feel pretty fucking lucky to have escaped that area with a decent name. Corey Luciano is pretty old-school.
I would bet money 95% of males there are either named Jake or have a last-name first-name like Payton Henry. -
Great lateral movement, quick sets, plays hard, I like him. Needed depth for sure
-
Corey Luciano looks the son of an italian mafioso.
-
This tells you we aren’t happy with our interior depth, particularly at C going forward after this year
-
Wait...so this guy isn't coming for 1.5 years?
-
Should be here in JanuaryHuskyJW said:Wait...so this guy isn't coming for 1.5 years?

There are very few high schools that are slower strategy than Monte Vista.Dennis_DeYoung said:Kid went to HS with Haener and Payton Henry apparently. This kid must feel pretty fucking lucky to have escaped that area with a decent name. Corey Luciano is pretty old-school.

Lucky Luciano!

247 currently has him ranked as the #2 Juco OT and the #6 Juco player overall.
For some sort of reference, Caleb Tremblay was #11 overall last year -
Is he a @BallzDeep kind of player?Dennis_DeYoung said:I really like this kid. I knew we offered a while back, but I don't write up a post for every kid we offer. However, I think everyone should be very pleased with this.

does this mean we have cooled on kalepo?
-
Why would that mean that? They won't even play the same position.WeakarmCobra said:does this mean we have cooled on kalepo?

No, it means the kid is good and they don't want Wattenberg to be a class of 1 OL. Kid will likely compete for guard when Harris is moved to centerWeakarmCobra said:does this mean we have cooled on kalepo?
